For battling boredom on the weekends

What sort of rifles do you guys favor?

Here's a couple pics of my favorites.

I like many but I probably do the most shooting with a Bushmaster AR clone with TA11 ACOG and Chip McCormick match trigger and a Springfield M1A with the heavy barrel, two-stage trigger and a few NM parts. I like shooting the M1A with iron sights.

I shoot as much 3 gun as I can, G34, Benelli M1S90, and Rock River 16 inch intermediate gas system, Michulek modified comp, Enidine buffer, TA01 ACOG with 55grain reticle and coaxial fixed sights at 1300 position.... have a 16inch AR10 but at 63 need the optics to see 400m....

I have two Russian, Tula arsenal SKS's that are a lot of fun to shoot. Truly a "battle rifle". My Polish Tantal, and Romanian AK-74 clone both usually come along for the ride.

I have a spare parts special M1 Garand that I need to replace the barrel, gas port, and piston on. It'll be awesome when I finally get all of these expensive parts together, but by that time, I'll be in almost as much as an M1A. I also have a Colt Target Match Carbine (M4 Clone) that I've pimped out - still haven't taken a photo of it with my EoTech EXPS on it.

my new Beretta ARX-160 assault rifle is getting a lot of time on the range. I’m beginning to like it.

I don't own any long arms currently (though I am working on a home-maid air gun...)

But our "patrol rifles" look pretty much like this:

My choice would be an FAL or M1A, but I have an AR that doesn't see a lot of range time so spending another $1000-$1500 on a safe queen is something I can't justify.

Home built AR: (highlights)

DD M4 1/7 barrel
DD LPK
BCM bolt/carrier
M4 stock
Aimpoint Micro in DD mount
Vortex flash hider

and a

Stainless 581 Mini-14---Burris 3x9x40 scope

Tell me more about this air gun, better yet, start a thread.

I have five 'battle' rifles. A Garand, Brit SMLE in .308, 30 Carbine, Ak-47, and an SKS. Far and away, I prefer the Garand. Probably because I lugged them around in the Army from 1951 to 1964 when they took my last Garand away and replaced it with a M-14. That was a sad day. I'd had that last Garand for five years in Germany and put countless 06 rounds through it. It was a sweetheart. The one I have now is also a sweetie, a bit beat up and rebuilt here and there but a superb shooter. I'll keep it until I croak.

Oh, that MP5 with the happy switch. That's pretty baller. So is that Beretta.
I don't own any centerfire rifles at the moment. All of my battles will have to be fought with handguns and shotguns.;)

Well, the definition of a Battle Rifle will always have some debate surrounding it, but I've grown up knowing them to be .30 caliber and semi-auto. Of course any rifle can be used in a battle...
