I TOOK THE BATTLE RAT AND THE RAZORBACK SEMI SKINNER(D2) OUT THIS AFTERNOON.I JUST GOT BOTH AND HAD NOT TESTED OR USED EITHER BEFORE TODAY.

LINK TO PHOTOS

http://www.putfile.com/samuraironin/images/60538

SPENT ABOUT 40 MINUTES CHOPPING DEAD TREES WITH THE BATTLE RAT AND CAME AWAY VERY IMPRESSED WITH IT.

HANDLE WAS VERY COMFORTABLE AND IT WAS VERY EASY TO CONTROL(ACCURACY WISE)

NO HOT SPOTS OR HANDLE PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER

THE BLADE HAD NO PROBLEM BITING INTO ANY TARGET I SELECTED,.

I PAID $215 FOR IT LAST WEEK(UNUSED)--AND I'M VERY HAPPY WITH IT .

THE HANDLE FITS MY HAND LIKE A GLOVE----

:)

-----------------------------------------------------------

THE RAZORBACK SEMI SKINNER WAS PURCHASED UNUSED FROM THE 2ND OWNER.IT'S 3/16th THICK(D2)--AND RAZOR SHARP.

I DO NOT HUNT-BUT I THOUGHT IT WOULD MAKE A GREAT CAMPING/HIKING KNIFE--I WAS MORE THAN CORRECT.

I SPENT ABOUT 30 MINUTES WHITTLING AND TRYING AS MANY THINGS AS I COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO TEST IT OUT ON.

CAME AWAY VERY IMPRESSED WITH IT'S BALANCE-SHARPNESS AND OVERALL CONSTRUCTION.

CAROL(MY GIRLFRIEND) WANTED ME TO "GIVE IT TO HER" AFTER SHE HAD USED IT FOR ONLY 2-3 MINUTES...

THAT'S HIGH PRAISE...

--------------------------------------------------------------------

AFTER I GOT BACK HOME-I CLEANED BOTH AND SHARPENED THEM ON THE SPYDERCO SHARPMAKER.

THE RAZORBACK POLISHED UP SO WELL I COULD PASS IT OFF AS UNUSED--NOT A SCRATCH ON IT.

THE BATTLE RATS BLACK CRINKLE BLADE COATING WORE OFF IN SPOTS--BUT I MUST HAVE HIT WITH IT 3-400 TIMES AT LEAST.EDGE WAS TOTALLY UNAFFECTED.

BOTH KNIVES TOOK LESS THAN 1 MINUTE TO GET HAIR POPPING SHARP...(LESS THAN THAT FOR THE RAZORBACK)

HAPPY IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE....

IF YOU GET THE CHANCE TO TRY ONE OR BOTH OF THESE BLADES-

PLEASE DO SO..

SINCERELY

DR.B

Sorry man I know this topic is Swampy related but I could'nt help look at the MMHW backwoods. Whats the skinny on that particular knife, I am considering ordering one with some mods but need some feedback. THanks

Is the blade the 10" or 12"? how is it weighted? I was considering it for Boar is the grip on it slippery? How does work as a chopper? I think thats runnin the gammut off the top of my head.

WOULD HAVE HIM ADD A GUARD IF I WAS GOING TO HUNT BOAR WITH IT--OR PUT GROOVES IN THE HANDLE.HANDLE IS SMOOTH-WHICH WORKS WELL IF YOUR CHOPPING A LOT--NO BLISTERS.

IF THRUSTING INTO SOMETHING THAT COULD KILL OR TEAR MY BUTT UP--I WOULD WANT A GUARD.

HERE IS THE AD FROM E-BAY--I SAVED IT

A nice one-off Bowie knife from Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works. Made
just because Ted wanted to. It would cost about $250+ shipping
retail. It is in like new unused condition.
The knife is 18 inches long, 12 inch blade, 2 inches wide and 1/4
inch thick. Fully hollow ground blade with a 5 3/4 inch ground, but
not sharpened, straight clip or false edge. The blade stock is 5160
spring type steel differentially hardened and black parkerized.

The handle features a full palm swell and lanyard hole. Handle
material is black canvas phenolic held to the tang by epoxy resin and
two steel cap screws. Very unusual thumb grooves in the top of the
blade [see last pic].

The knife comes with a form fitted black kydex sheath with brass
grommets and belt loop.

Shipping is FREE with Buy-it-Now; otherwise, $12 including insurance
to anywhere in the US. Please contact me for shipping to any other
location.

Please email me with any questions or comments and to see more on

Man thanks alot

That was the feedback I needed on this one. I am going to get it but with G10 (if they'll do it) bead blasted and sharpened on that false edge I'll have to ask about the hilt I am pretty sure they can get it done.

You have really good taste in knives and thanks for the help!:)
