Battlestar Galactica Razor knife?

I'm wondering also. There were tons of closeups of the thing. But by the way it looks I wouldn't be surprised if it were a Fury or Frost Cutlery cheapo like you see in Smoky Mountain Knifeworks catalogs.

I was also wondering, and it does appear to be just a frost cutlery or other cheapo.

it must be cull as hell they way they kept touching the edge for dramatic effect.

It looked to me like a William Henry folder.

I only saw it a few times early in the movie ( which , by the way was superb ) and to me it looked like this , sort of.

I think you're right Rebeltf. I taped it last night and rewatching the opening few minutes, it sure looks like some variation of the William Henry model "Rio". Of course without the damascus. If it is a WH, they sure beat it up hard to look battle-tested.

I watched the show as well, and I spent some time trying to identify the knife. There were brief closeups on the liner lock, the scales, and the blade itself that led me to believe that it's a cheapo sub-Frost Chinese knockoff. It's got about a 3.5" blade, a liner that goes right across when it's opened, and Phillips-head screws securing the handles. It looks like the enlarged William Henry T10 knockoffs that hit the market about 6 years ago. What initially looks like Damascus on the blade eventually shows up as wear marks, so they at least aged the prop; I suspect it's supposed to look like a post-apocalyptic salvage made knife. There's a stamped and blackened maker's mark on the blade in some scenes, but that could also have been added by the props department. So it's either:

A. a cheap Chinese linerlock purchased in quantity and customized by the effects people, OR

B. a handmade knife designed to look battle-worn and crude, aged by a custom maker who produced a prop-only knife for the show.

Given the show's previous focus on frugality during production and the emphasis on people over technology, I'd suspect the former.

Imagine if that knife was this: http://www.rayrogers.com/rayzorii.htm

That'd be the way I would go. Check out the How Large FAQ links for effect.

Maybe I wasn't paying %100 attention because I only saw the knife twice , very quick , when that one girl was throwing it into something.
I'm sure it wasn't a genuine WH , although you never know I guess , probably a knock off like KWG suggests.

I registered at this site just to post this info for you guys. You can thank me for this with flowers and candy.

The exact knife is .....

(DRUM ROLL)

Boker Magnum Cosmos Side-Lock Pakkawood Pocket Knife

I find this series refreshing because it's not about lasers and hyperdriving around the universe, it uses tried and true technology. Bullet firing guns, missiles, nukes and knives. When was the last time you saw someone whip out a pocket folder and cut something on Star Trek? (It probably would have been a Klingon anyway:rolleyes:)

There have been a few uses of different knives on this show. I like it!

There have been a few uses of different knives on this show. I like it!

Like when Sharon "Boomer" used Dee's pocketknife (a stockman, I think) to cut her hand and put a hardline into herself to cripple the incoming Cylon raiders.

Or when Starbuck used a SOG Revolver to cut off her pontytail.

Great show.
