After a long time out of the knife appreciation game (part of which is Spyderco's fault, I explain that below), I have gotten back into it a bit.
I added a BattleStation to my "collection" - sort of on a whim, but I really liked the lines of the knife. I've had it for a couple months, and it's a great EDC. The ergos are stellar, overall design is clean and allows for great control on fine tasks, yet it's stout enough to inspire confidence. In short, it's much better than I anticipated and I'm glad I picked it up.
I'm thinking about having custom scales made for it, although the texture of the stock scales is going to be tough to beat.
It's (tongue-in-cheek) Spyderco's fault that I haven't been purchasing anything: back in the early 90s, I bought an Economy; somewhere around 2000 I purchased an Endura in SE. These knives have been troopers for me, nary a problem. I've done nothing in terms of maintenance except for very basic stuff: lube it up, use it hard, and wipe it down when I'm done. Haven't even sharpened until quite recently.
Anyhow, the BattleStation was an uncharacteristic purchase for me, but I'm glad I did pulled the trigger.
Now I'm in the process of growing my collection. I'm simply amazed at the sheer selection available today - this is truly a great time to be a knife lover.
