Our good fellow Andi promised me he'd say thanks for his Brukskniv by sending me some delicious treats from the deli where his good lady works. I tried to refuse, but eventually I had to cave and well, I am pleased I did! :D

Look at the fine spread that arrived over the weekend!

Bavarian specialities; sausage different kinds, salami and a very generous hunk of smoked ham. It all looks and smells amazing.....and tonight, now I have picked up a few essentials, I shall enjoy sampling from an Aufscnitt Platte with my good lady.

You can probably guess what I'll be using to slice things up!

Andi included this beautifully made Hartkopf lockback. It's a quintessential German knife in my mind and I feel even more spoiled by its arrival. The note said a good knife was needed to slice up all the treats. Andi, you hand picked the perfect cutlery for the task.

Then of course there was something you may recognise, the TL-29. This one is a Camilus made model, from Andi's own stash.

This is a great tool and its great to be able to have one of these unique workhorses in my collection.

Such gifts were all really unexpected and I've once again been blown away by Andi and his good ladies generosity. Thank you so much to the two of you.

And don't worry, I shall be sure to report back on all the fine fare and how well the Hartkopf handles it all! :)

Very nice! This forum is filled with such considerate & generous folk, no wonder we all keep coming back. ;)

Holy smoked sausage!! Look at all that sumptuous porcine goodness! And I spy some coin action too

The Hartkopf ....mmmmmm

Very nice, Andi:thumbup:

Thom, I´m really glad you got it (and in good condition, because there was some real heat over Europe the last few weeks) and you like it.

The Hartkopf has horn scales which I thought you would propably like and it was in a good overall appearence.

The meat/food I sent was a pound of Black-Smoked-Ham (so called Schwarzgeräuchertes), it riped a couple of weeks under wet beechwood smoke and some herbs were added which are just known by my wife´s boss. This meat is also sold in some delicatess-shops in Munich. I hope you like the taste. :)

The sausages are one salami, a Pfefferbeißer and a so called Kaminwurz. Being honest, a translation in english wouldn´t make much sense at all. :D

However - I hope you enjoy the meal with your wife with a good bread, dark wheat beer and some mustard... at least that´s what we do here in Bavaria when we have such a "Brotzeit".

My wife vacuum packed the goods to resist from spoiling during the heat.

I´m looking forward hearing, how you like the taste... :)

Thanks to you guys for your kind replies. I´m pretty sure you all would like it, too.

That Hatkopf looks like a beauty! Nice looking spread there too:thumbup:

Great stuff guys!

Love me some charcuterie!! Especially with a good pint of malted beverage!

Uncle Andi is one of the truly generous around here. One day soon I hope I can emulate his generosity.

Thanks for all the comments chaps.

We enjoyed some salami and Schwarzgeräuchertes last night, along with pumpernickel, pickles and potato salad.
It's was delicious. The black-smoked ham has a particularly good flavour and the Hartkopf made good work of slicing it up.

No beer to wash it down with but it didn't take away from the feast we could share thanks to your kindness Andi.

Plenty more to enjoy these coming weeks :)
