bay area get together?

kind of short notice, but i'm going to be in south san francisco for a couple of days. i'll be around wednesday and thursday nights and hopefully can find a few busseholics to drink some kool-aid with. i had the pleasure of meeting ban, gimmejr and norcal hunter at the eugene show, but am always ready to meet more of you oinkers.

chatting with ban and gimme it sounds like thursday might be the better night. i know my way around down here, but not well enough to try to pick a place to get together. if anyone wants to try to do this, maybe just dinner and some drinks, then chime in. hopefully someone knows of a place on the peninsula that might be somewhat central and could accomodate a few of us, anything with food and beverage service would be good with me. two or three, or 15 or 20, hopefully this can come together on a day or two notice.

I'm In:thumbup: I just got off the phone with Hogwash and his is also planning on joining us. He will probably chime in here shortly. I know there are quite a bit of hogs and piglets around the bay area. Hopefully, we can get a good turnout for yah ;)

At this point I’m busy on Thursday night (and unless you are a beautiful blond female I'm not changing my plans:p) but I’d have time for dinner Wednesday before I have to go play darts (need to be there at 8:00). I’d need to stay kind of close to home in case I need to get to my mom’s quickly to deal with any issues. There are a ton of places to eat where I live so if you want to come up to San Francisco for dinner I’m game.

Send an email to abguff(at)att.net if you might want to do that. We could hit sushi in Sausalito if you are into that. It is the best I have ever had but is also the most expensive. :eek: :eek: Any other kind of food works too.

Ban was suggesting that we find a Chinese restaurant so that you can compare it with Calhoun's.

That's fine with me but if you want drinks and a place to linger for a while, I think we need to find a bar. Off the top of my head, I can't think of anywhere that's AK friendly unless we can find someone in the area with a house.

Any restaurant is fine. If it is Chinese then please no Calhoun's :p
 
Thursday night may be workable for me, depending upon whether I go on a trip to the Mojave desert on Friday morning, and, if so, how involved the trip plans become.

Somewhere central, on the Peninsula (as Winston suggested), sounds good for me. I will be in both Belmont and Palo Alto on Thursday night. If anybody would like me to suggest good places in those areas, let me know. Also, if anybody would like to discuss arrangements with me, you can call me at (831) 325 6917.

By the way, Kraz is also in the general area, and should be asked to join.

Oops! My Gold membership just expired. I guess that means I can't be PMed, until renewal kicks in.

Where would you prefer: Closer to Belmont, or closer to Palo Alto?

I'm not a big Busse collector (don't have the cash!!), but I always read threads that mention the bay area since I'm born and raised here, so I was just perusing this one and hope you all have a great night!! If any of you ever are in the Pinole area, just East of Berkeley and Richmond off of HWY 80, stop by the Antlers Tavern in downtown Pinole on San Pablo Ave. I run the place during the day on Tues,Wed,Thurs,and Sat and always welcome other Knife nuts. I also have a small cutlery shop in Rodeo, the next little town over, but deal mostly in folders. The shop isn't totally finished, but my website is up and running and I'm moving forward one little step at a time!:D

Dang guys...Thursday night is not gonna work for me. I am gonna have to pass on this one. But I promise that I will organize the next big NorCal Busse Fest that is gonna include all types of chopping and abuse.

looking at a map, hayward seems pretty central, especially if any east bay guys are going to make it. i kind of like the separate room concept of gimmejr's, but will go with a group consensus.

i missed the chinese food action/fiasco in eugene, so i'll reserve comment on that until i get all the details.

hahaha...you know its not like that buddy!:D I just didn't want to limit our options. Well at least it sounds like your AK would feel more at home in a Sushi place with Tatami mats :D
 
Yeah, I know.

I picked my forum name for a reason. I don't want anyone to take me too seriously, especially when I'm acting hurt.

I don't know if the AK in a tatami room is a good idea, I might not be able to control myself and do a Kill Bill Crazy 88's scene, cutting up the walls and scaring Charlie Brown, I want four pizzas.
 
It looks like I can make it, too. :thumbup:

My trip to the Mojave is postponed until next week. My only pressing appointment on Friday is a day trip to a local great horned owl family.
