Bayonet Question...Ident./Value...

Hello...

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas...

Bayonet is 16" long, heavy brass handle with crest on one side(worn)...and writing 'E.89' on other side. Blade is dull and no markings any where (other than creast).

Ok, it works fine. It is too late for me to look at my reference books, but from memory it looks German or French. Maybe late 1800's?
