Does anyone know what's going on with Bayou Laforche www.knifeworks.com ???
I went to their site, and it said it was sold, and won't be back up until March 1! It's sad to hear

BUMMER! That sux. Well, unless the former owner -- dang, can't remember his name now-- is making big bucks off the sale. That would be GREAT, because he sure was a nice guy.

That`s a shame. Roger (Clung?) always had the best prices on everything! He was tough to beat! I`m sorry to see him go. (I hope he made a fortune on the sale.)

Mitch,

There was no warning for this. Their site seemed to be up and running just half an hour ago. Is it just me, or does it seem that there some kind of shake-up going on in the internet cutlery business?

Maybe it's the work of HACKERS.
They did their dirty work on Ebay and Yahoo and now their after Internet Knife Sellers.

This is terrible! I am just starting to enjoy my Christmas present from Roger and now he's gone!

He is probably happy with the deal and the shake up is on right now.

Here is the problem. The industry is spread to thin and to many manufacturers are trying to control pricing. End result is some will throw in the towel.

Only the strong will survive.
Moteng's Zap Ship program will create new solutions as well as problems. We will see.

That is sad, but he may be getting more involved with the wholesale side of the industry.

Roger was a true gentleman. It was always a pleasure to do business with him. This is bad news indeed. I wish Roger much success in his future ventures.

I logged into bayou laforrche as well alst night and my fright was unparalleled!

Maybe they are just selling their domain name until they get bayoulaforche.com?

ROger was too good to go.

Roger not only had a good selection, and good prices on knives, but he had an excellent selection of Zippos as well. His was the only place that I could find a Cleveland Browns lighter for my wife.
Like someone else said, I hope he made a fortune. And if it has anything to do with manufacturers trying to control pricing.... well.... i'm not even going to start.

This is really odd. I just got an e-mail yesterday from Roger in response to a question about the availability of BM 730's. He said he had some on order. No hint about being sold. Wonder if it is a prank. He was/is a good guy to do business with, one of the best I've found

2nd, the story behind the move. A few months back, I started helping a friend of mine run a wholesale cutlery business. With all of the work, and an impending conflict of interest, it soon became obvious that something would have to go. Rather than jeopardize my buddies business, which one day I hope to buy out, I felt it was in both mine, and his best interest, if Bayou Lafourch was sold.

We started the process immediately, and are finally nearing completion.

Shannon Wood bought Bayou Lafouche a couple of months back, and we have been working with him to make this as smooth a transaction as possible. We felt it was best to close down for a couple of weeks in order to finalize the transaction. Shannon will be taking over on March 1 on his own. Shannon is a great guy, has a great personality and is extremely knowledgable. I will only be a phone call away from him if he has any problems or questions.

Shannon plans to have the site back up on March 1, and the only changes you should notice are for the better.

Thanks for all your support. It has been an incredible experience. I have made many good friends along the way! I believe Shannon will do the same.

Well, I guess Congratulations are in order Roger, and good luck in your endeavors. I have to say, it was certainly GREAT doing business with you, and hope to again in the future. Meanwhile, I guess we should wish Shannon good luck as well. He certainly has some shoes to fill...

Roger, if Shannon maintains the standard you have set, we will all be happy. I hope that you remain on the knife scene, if only to stop by here once in a while. It's been great, old friend. Regards, James

Oh Great,I just had a knife from them delivered, but I wanted to return it.Now I may be stuck! Maybee ordering on the net is not such a good idea!

Mi.Mike,
I'm sure that if you email Roger he will be able to make everything right. You just caught them in a transitional period. I'm sure it will all work out.
