Let's convict him first befoe we decide whether he is finshed. There are alot of crackpots making wild accusations these days; and, the leftist press seems to draw them in like flies to cra_.

I typed in Mel Gibson on the BBC's website and there was no story of donations to anti jewish groups.

The Left ignored Passion of the Christ. Many among them will now misguidedly eviscerate Gibson. Our society is sparce on redemption. We don't even pay it much lip service.

People can change, and people do make mistakes.

Yep. Let's give Mel his due process before we decide he is Hitler incarnate.

the guys on the radio also thought it was true-now they are saying its a hoax

thats why i said-if its true

Maybe, just maybe, some good will come of this episode. If it doesn't define Gibson's "bottom," perhaps it will raise awareness and prompt behavior change for some other folks.

One can hope.

Be well and safe.

What Kismet said. Every time an issue like this appears in a form where it can hit home, there might be good done.

Long Version

being a closet left wing liberal kumbayah veggie type as y'all know, i firmly believe that we should hang him first and ask questions later, after all, he's a WASP and thus ineligable for fighting back. i hear he's apologised a number of times, that of course is unacceptable, unless he's our hero jane fonda or one of her coven.

the media, being firmly liberal would of course not exaggerate all this just to sell papers, and trial by jury would only intrude facts onto a very clear emotional case of trial by media. if this ever gets to a judicial trial, we need to ensure that all the emotions are out in the media before hand, in order to push the trial over in favor of our feelings or the facts may get him off scott free or with only a small slap on the wrist.

it's a good sign the FBI are getting involved, they can make a good case that he must have violated someones civil rights somewhere. like i said, mel's a WASP, so must be a racist bigot. if the FBI are investigating him, he must be guilty.

heck, we all know alchoholism is not a disease and anything you say while under the influence is the gospel truth and should be admissable in a court of media and that celebrities in general should be given no mercy. if alchoholism was a disease, poor people and minorities would have it and the liberal media would of course make as much fuss over that as they do over a sick celeb. i'm sure none of us have said anything under the influence that we didn't mean. let he who is without sin, etc. only applies to our sins, not them.

to summarize: mel gibson, he doesn't fit in in polite society, so deserves to be bad mouthed, tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail like anyone else we disagree with, why waste money on a trial when we know we are right, er... left.

Short Version

who gives a crap. he's an actor, not a TV evangelist (in spite of his jesus movie), we pay him to make movies we enjoy, what he or anyone else do in their time off is their business, if you don't like his views or his personality, don't hang out with him or go to his parties. if you don't like his movies, don't watch or pay to see them.

we put people up on the pedestals, then tear them down when we find out they are only human after all.

LOL! Kronckew, I have to say I am impressed. That is somewhat rare for me. All I can say is I wish I had written this. Well said, in _both_ versions!

my next dissertation will likely be on french hatred for winning american cyclists and past present and future drugs testing in french labs and their level of independance and lack of bias...

i might expand that to the idiocy of setting such stringent limits on medicines that an athlete cannot afford to treat any illness they might have, and thus must suffer and possibly risk damage or death, and they cannot have a slightly different metabolism that might deviate from the norm. they can't even have a cup of coffee in the morning for fear of failing a drugs test.

watch out all you baldies, you have a known higher level of testosterone & thus cannot be allowed to participate in organised athletics as you are all drug addicts and unreliable performance cheats. same if you have an undiagnosed tumor or condition that might put you over the edge, its your fault you didn't know.

You know, there's definitely something to this. We can't accept that we are good ourselves and don't need heroes (ie, we are/can be heroes just by stepping up) so we create them out of celebs, then we can't stand that they are "above us, above the law, above reproach" because that reminds us that we are not as good as the hero we made. So we tear them down to build ourselves back up.

But when I look deeper into it, I really think that the reason we attack celebs with such venom isn't because we want to tear them down as much as it is that we are angry that they didn't do our work for us (see below--there is a point here I promise) and that leaves us nowhere to hide.

Every hero or Mother Theresa figure in our world living or long dead had the same self doubts and worries we all have. But they refused to be defined by them...they stepped up and took responsibility. They refused to say what has become a mantra for our society "aw, someone else can do it. I'm not good enough"

"aw, someone else can do it. I'm not good enough"

a phrase that's killed many of my own dreams.

I remember how upset I was when John Lennon was letting his music sink and drinking all the time. He walked into the usual fashionable LA place with a tampon strapped on his head. He got lippy with the waitress, but she was having none of it.

"Don't you know who I am?" Lennon asked her.
"Yeah, you're the as____le with a tampon on his head."

We live lives of quiet desperation and when one of us falls the soul camera turns on. It sees that some turn away, some castigate, some offer help.

You take your licks, pays your fine, and walk on. It's the walking on some don't think the tarred should be allowed to do. We could put them in cages in the mall instead.

He never starred in Road Warrior. BTW, I'm real impressed you spelled his name. I couldn't do that. If I tried to sound it out I'd fail.
