I received this BBSHSH variant today and it is a beauty! It is a combination of an older BBSHSH and a newer SHII. It has the birds beak and handle profile on the birds beak end of the BBSHSH, a handle width/contour in-between the two, it has the slotted screws, grooved handle (the first BBSHSH I've seen with slotted screws and handle), larger choil, and larger talon holes of the SHII, plus no thumb dip in the spine. The swedge is heavy from the tip back about 3.5" and goes to a narrow width all the way to the handle. It is also said to be INFI.

Update, I received this from Jerry when I asked him about it:

. . . . I made that Variant as a special with the bird's beak handles just for him. . . . It is INFI and is one of very few that have that handle/beak configuration. . . . and possibly the ONLY one with that blade/handle/beak combo. . .

Nice score!!!

INFI? Tim has that been confirmed by Jerry? Bro...a bird's beak that's INFI? Why that would be darn near priceless!

Major score there you Steel Heart HOG!!!!

oh BTW....very Bad Ass swedge! Looks almost as good as the one on a HOFSH I saw on a thread here the other day.... ;)

Have I ever mentioned how much I love you. You can trust me with your life as well as your INFI and your wife:thumbup:

The previous owner said it was confirmed by Jerry when he sent it in to get the convex edge and swedge added. Apparently Jerry said he didn't want to do that again, saying the steel was too tough!

INFI SHSH profile ,slotted screws and birds beak handle. That would be pretty much like the anniversary SH right? Not positive about the screws though?

Very sweeeeet, looks like you got one more chain link in the evolution of the SH series

Great looking knife, thanks for sharing the pics.

This is what I like about Busses, these little gems that are out there

:D:D

CONGRATS Porkducci!!!! That is one SWEET knife!!!

Here's my take... to me, it looks to be more of a SHII. So many of the characteristics are of the SHII... larger choil, talon hole size, overall shape, handle style, plunge grind line, etc. let's take a look at the butt  :D ... If you notice, the hole that would be the eye of the birds beak, is a little more inset than the BBSHSH... the shape & slope of the "forehead" portion of the Butt looks to be the same as the SHII and the beak portion has a different grind that the BBSHSH. The handles could have been modified in shape (each end ground off), allowing the room on the butt for the BB grind. It probably is made of INFI... because I think it's a modified SHII. The things that throw me off on all this is that the hole that is the eye in the birds beak looks like it's coated on the inside and the handles would have had to be removed to grind into shape.

So... those are my observations and my guess as to what it is... I'd really be curious about what Boss Hog says about it.

Either way Porkducci... very, very cool find!

Awesome score Porkducci!! That swedge looks really cool:cool:
