headed out to Buntzen Lake BC to hopefully meet up with a few locals. I was already anticipating that the Crew was busy this weekend though....

Ate my lunch at the covered picnic area just in case anyone showed.

what was really cool today was the very old Korean couple that had set up in the picnic gazebo. They had a propane burner, a 60 liter SS pot, and about 100 packages of MR Noodles (instant ramen) and other fine eating picnic foods. The husband came over and hesitantly asked about my knife on my pack (i had a Scrapyard 6 on my pack). I showed him my SY Challenge Coin and the handed him the Scrapper6. His eyes grew VERY LARGE and he uttered much Korean before speaking in English "this is very heavy duty woods knife, so sharp, so sharp" . We had a good laugh together and i let him play with the knife on some branches. The look on his face as he chopped and shaved pieces off the branch was priceless. He giggled and laughed and frantically shook my hand, all the while his wiofe wailed and fussed and looked scared!

sooooo anyone figure out what is wrong with this picture???

IMG_0649.jpg

hint........power...................

yep, the magnetic interference from the high tension lines completely REVERSED the needle. North was in the OPPOSITE direction.

Too bad the gang never showed. The old boy handle that knife decently-you never know what a person did in a younger life or different country for that matter
Too far for this cat some 7 hrs or more.Hung at Buntzen when a lad worked down the coast for a bit.
Nice pictures we had the same weather. Thanks for posting

^ hey good to hear from you DBoles! looks like an early spring and summer eh!

I knew it would be off - I looked in the mirror and saw the lines - but REVERSED? Wow!

yeah BC HYDRO must have been pumping thru a huge amount of megawatts,,,,,,the hair on my arms was standing up and the air was crackling pretty loud below the wires

Wow, great pics and story!!

I went on hike once, and met a Korean family. They brought a lot of food, like a large winter picnic. They were very nice and started talking to me, but I told them I was chinese. One of them spoke chinese, so I ended up sharing the meal with them. The funniest part was instead of splitting the a log and making kindling, they just set it on fire with a blow torch!

Well, turns out the oldest gentleman was 76 year old. He looked 50! AND he was the most famous mountain climber of Korea, climbing Mount Everest over FIVE TIMES! No wonder why he completely outpaced me on the way down.

yea i had a great chat with the couple, they were prepping picnic lunch for their whole family. I should have taken pics of the mountain of ramen noodle packages they had stacked up.

Very nice. Thanks for the pics - felt like I was there, too!

Fatwood elitist - LOL. :D
