headed out to Buntzen Lake BC to hopefully meet up with a few locals. I was already anticipating that the Crew was busy this weekend though....
Ate my lunch at the covered picnic area just in case anyone showed.
lunch (multigrain bun and hot salami & cheese), and my pack
looking out from the gazebo
what was really cool today was the very old Korean couple that had set up in the picnic gazebo. They had a propane burner, a 60 liter SS pot, and about 100 packages of MR Noodles (instant ramen) and other fine eating picnic foods. The husband came over and hesitantly asked about my knife on my pack (i had a Scrapyard 6 on my pack). I showed him my SY Challenge Coin and the handed him the Scrapper6. His eyes grew VERY LARGE and he uttered much Korean before speaking in English "this is very heavy duty woods knife, so sharp, so sharp" . We had a good laugh together and i let him play with the knife on some branches. The look on his face as he chopped and shaved pieces off the branch was priceless. He giggled and laughed and frantically shook my hand, all the while his wiofe wailed and fussed and looked scared!
18 deg Celcius, blue skies, and sunshine
no one showed, so i headed out. On the way I got attacked by the Mossy Tree Monster
heading into the woods....this is NOT mora country, this is real knife country
fatwood stump, poor quality though......
roadside ditch, crystal clear water
instead of wasting energy hacking and chopping my way thru the dense forest, i chose the easy route!
thats the BC Hydro access road road to the Buntzen Lake Reservoir, its well packed hard pan.
