Fatwood threads seem to be well recieved around here
Yesterday was a borderline day as far as weather was concerned, raw cold north wind and overcast.I knew that many boaters would stay home.
So I loaded up the canoe powersaw and a lunch and headed out. When I went past the 1st boatramp there wasnt a soul or boat to be seen.I likely was the only boat on the water in a hundred miles.
The plan was to paddle the shore ,land and look for promising stumps
Wasnt long before I found one a few taps with the axe confirmed
Heres a few shots looking around this is an old log block likely selective cut in the 30's
The stump should have brought a shovel to get down a little deeper as this was a prime piece with lots of pitch
Heres a dead western White Pine note the resinosis on the trunk
The yeild around 15lbs of good quality
I spent a nice afternoon doing a little woods poking paddling and enjoying the outside
