Well the we got together again for a run around in the woods. Munky88 wasnt able to join us this time but a new member came out and had a great time with us, 6shooter.

Bushman5, 6shooter and I went over to the usual stomping grounds and hiked in off trail to play with a few blades. I didnt take enough pics but did manage to snap a few good ones so enjoy :D.

Things I learned today:

1. I need to start working again to buy more knives
2. Firebows are harder than I thought
3. I have lots to learn about everything
4. I need to start working again to buy more gear
5. I need more knives

Those pics turned out nice JCA, thanks for having me out guys. We'll definitely do it again soon.

Pitdog, there was talk of a BC bladeforums meet/campout sometime in the future. It would definitely be fun to get a bunch of people in one place with a metric ton of sharp metal objects:D

nah 6 shooter, ya dont need more gear, ya need to make gear from the woods!:D

Great to meet you today. That blade you had was BEEFY   thanks for the awesome homemade cookies

good times today, arms are sore from bowing that firebow, it makes me appreciate a firesteel and PJCB, esp here on the wet coast.

once again we endured the usual goggle eyed stares from the public as we hit the main trail and back to the parking lot. One guy hiking behind us was very quiet and furtive as he passed us. He looked pensive. :p:D:p Could have been been the full on camo, combats, SY SOd strapped to my pack, and a 'hawk in my hand, could have been the 'hawk silently sailing thru the air and thunking into stumps.........:D

looks like you had fun guys. Maybe youll come to the island sometime and ill join ya:)

It puts a smile on my face knowing that we(mostly you) had more fun walking down those trails than the people eyeing us as they passed:cool:

I'm back! looks like it was fun. why didnt you guys didn't follow the old logging road? did you get gps co ordenents of where the shelter was built?

welcome back Munky!

that old road goes for about 50' then craps out into dense forest and blowdowns, pretty much disappears.
Shelter is still dry underneath!

yea i like it MUCH better, lopping off the hammer dropped 3 ounces off the hawk and it just feels better when throwing.

we had a two man "fire team" going here: I was pressing on the handhold, while 6Shooter or JCA would saw the bow. In this shot we were testing different woods for hearths, this is hemlock......its "ok" but not as good as willow......

Burts Bees lip balm was used to grease the top end of the spindle and the socket in the handhold.

Hahaha totally. I wonder if you could melt it in with some paraffin wax and make candles out of it.

probably could but it'd be expensive. might be cheaper the find the ingredients for the stuff and add that. lol.
