BCCI will have their big celebration/meeting at the Buck factory per the BCCI March 2012 Newsletter. I just got a copy of the newsletter by joining as a BCCI Lifetime Member. I just send in a Youth Application for my son today. I have never been to that part of Idaho and would like to see it.

Where do BCCI folks stay during the 4-day event? What Hotel? What Town?

I have tons of leave time with my Federal Job. Fact, more than I can ever use as I am a workaholic (I know a joke line should be here somewhere):D This could be a father/son bonding event for us and a great learning event.

Round trip from St Louis....3,600 miles....12.5 mpg pulling the aluminum teepee equals $1,000 plus in gas.
I think it would be fairer for everyone if this event were held at the population center of the United States...right here in Missouri.... I'd settle for the geographical center though....that's next door in Kansas.

Guys, more info wil start flowing to you after the annual meetings while the Blade Show is going on in Atlanta in early June. Committees will meet and approve agendas and situations.
Desoto I hear your midwest pain, but in Kansas you can't go to a picnic in Chuck Bucks backyard, or sit in the factory lobby and talk with CJ or see Joe's desk. Or go on the special factory tour that will allow you to talk to individual workers at their work stations or see the heat treating area (not allowed on public tour). Did I mention Leroy , Wild Bill, David Prater or David YH. Those and other great things make attending one of these at least once, a must for every Buck nut......300/ch

Move the factory...they did it once, they can do it again. How else are we going to get another state tang mark to collect...:)

I almost never plan for anything that far in advance, but I am planning for this. I had a friend that wanted to do some backpacking in WY and CO next year. I told her AFTER the 25th BCCI event! :)

I am leaving for a 560 mile backpacking trip tomorrow from southern PA to VT on the Appalachian Trail. I really want to attend Blade in Atlanta, especially on the 9th for our meeting. I guess that will depend on whether I am walking near a town where I might rent a car for that weekend or not.

Well Desoto,

The 25th event is 856 miles from me one way (1712 round trip). So we have to make the decision...to go or not to go! Asking for this event to be closer to you is not fair to those of us on the west coast. The last BIG BCCI event was at SMKW 2524 miles from me one way, the Blade show is 2478 miles from me one way. Most of the big knife events are in your neck of the woods all the time.....so having the event in Buck's location seems fair to me;). It's all about the decision....to go or not to go. Also as 300 said, If we don't go to the factory how can we judge how well Joe dose his job if we don't get to inspect his desk!

I did not attend the last few events due to the distance and the cost. Then I see all the photo's of what I missed and what was the worst.....I did not get to meet my fellow collectors and talk shop face to face!

If I go (big if), I'll take my motorhome so my two fur babies can come along. I know of some nice RV parks in the area and you travel through some beautiful country getting there. It's about 1150 miles from me, but I could turn it into a two or three week vacation trip besides attending.

I think 2 of the top 5 knive shows in the USA are on the Left Coast. Las Vegas is one (Shot Show) and Oregon's 450 table Knife show is the other. Now, BCCI in Idaho is a great 3rd. With these three I could care less about Atlanta or SMKW.;)

Well, at SMKWs you missed some good, long individual pesentations ( you can buy the DVD off of BCCI site). MY hour and a half 300 series preaching with 80 slides left me dreanched in sweat like a old time preacher....ha. I don't think a single 'soul' closed a eye. I and the other 'preachers' shared information that would take you "years' to learn on your own.

The Blade show is about like the SHOT show just no guns. Well its a huge and I mean Dallas Cowboys stadium size room filled with knife stuff and people huge. Everything blade you can think of. BUT, you have Buck Town watched over by sheriff Rusty and the four rows of ten tables of Buck knife displays that make a presence like no others. Its like the Big Island of Hawaii in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. People the width and breath of the building know the BUCK folks are there. Have you ever got to sit in a booth and eat supper with Joe Houser and his wife, I have. Have you stood beside Chuck Buck as he looked over your knife collection and discussed the past, I have. Have you been standing talking to someone and have Larry Oden come up and say "a guy I know is selling all his Bucks to me in a few minutes, you want to see if there are any 300s you might want", I have. You can walk the aisles with the Leroy Remers bunch and laugh till it hurts, or visit David Yellowhorse at his display. Those things and more can happen at the Blade Show, not to mention the annual members meeting where you get to vote on people and policy..............

Well, let me again state loudly, most of that can also happen at the BCCI factory event . But I am also talking the Factory almost closes down so the workers and the Buck people can eat lunch together, you walk the factory floor and see 110s actually being made. You go to Chuck Bucks house for a picnic in the yard and if your lucky you get a ride in his 57 Chevy with him at the wheel. That stuff is what makes the pain of the cost and distance worth it. We have had a year and half notice. If its even close to being possible for anyone I would state again, Every BuckNut worth his salt needs to go at least once. Time marches on, don't miss the boat of what this event is . A special knifePEOPLE time. 300Bucks

PS Cabelas is across the road from the factory.

300 Bucks,

I would love to go to the Atlanta knife show and SMKW also, but I am happy to just attend the three out here. I like the SHOT show as I also like guns:D

I have meet with Joe Houser (this year), Chuck Buck and wife (last year) at the Oregon kife show. I think I have been lucky and it's also why I have become a BCCI Life member. Joe Houser personally did a warranty on a pink camo Buck that I am giving to my daughter this XMAS. He is a class act.

I will attend the BCCI factory event (my first one) this year with my 12 year old son. I am so looking forward to seeing that Spokane WA to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area. I love that we will have the BCCI event as a focus. After 28-years in the military and two combat tours, I am getting to that point in life where I can do things for me.:)

I would have to say, as a responsible American, you deserve some you time.

It sounds like you are set up to have some good Buck people times out west. It sorta works out that both coasts get attention, only Desoto and I have to drive ......ha Everyone go when you can, where you can, and do what you can. That is
righteous and legal that is.......300

PS Coveting another mans Buck Knives is OK, I am sure.

The blade show is the "Super Bowl" of knife shows, and it's a long way from us west coasters! The shot show is not a knife show, it's all the sporting goods MFG's displaying their "new" goods, so I don't count that event as a knife show, cool event that it is, just not for me. The knife shows in Oregon & LA areas are very small 450 tables may sound large to some folks....but, they sure are no Blade Show.

The event that Buck put's on at the factory is better than any of the other knife events because it's just "Buck". It's for the BCCI folks and the Buck folks getting together and enjoying every thing Buck for a few days. So again I say to go or not to go is each one's own personal decision.

I plan on going to Post Falls and taking my camper. I will visit Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier, maybe a few other places. I think when I go to Post Falls, I will probably stay at the hotel they plan on using. When I went to the SMKW there were a lot of things happening at the hotel and going back and forth may be a bit of a hassle. Of course if gas goes north or the economy takes a big dip, all bets are off.

By the way, I will be at Atlanta this June as it is about 20 miles away for me.
