Has anybody actually carried their BCCI Ivory Micarta/BG42 and used it? Do you have any pics of her getting down and dirty or is that tabeau? I think with BG42 steel and a BOS heat treat she's just begging to be used.

So far no replies, so guess that gives some indication that most owners are not using theirs. My two are collectors items and will remain virgin until which time they are sold to someone else. I know I have read where one or two guys are using theirs and in the basic sense that is what a knife is for. They should give good service. But, don't look for the BCCI to offer another sale of this type, we had a hard time selling the few hundred made, in order to recoup our club investment.

I was able to obtain what I deemed to be an extra one, that is out now at Davids place to get a little scrimshaw work done since it's a plain one without the BCCI logo.

It came with what I felt were very weak backsprings, but I sent it to Mr. Houser and he had the service department work on it, so it's better now.

But when it get back, I plan using and carrying it.

I carried mine a few times when I first go it but used it very little, mostly opening mail so can't speak to any improved performance with the BG-42. Figured I better put it away and keep it nice but know I'm thinking I need to go ahead and enjoy it everyday rather than just the times I pull it out to admire it.

I put one away, and carry the other one occasionally. Haven't done anything serious with it, so I can't speak to BG42 vs 420HC

I just got mine and I figure she'll be carried and used. I'm 60 years old and what would I be saving her for? I don't have children to give her to one day AND BG 42 is one of my favorite steels so....

Honestly, I wish she had black Micarta slabs! Then she wouldn't show as much dirt when I use her! Did I mention I love BG 42?

This knife is an awesome knife for pocket carry. You know, that day I went to the Buck for sale area, I wasn't looking for a folder, let alone a friction folder, let alone a stockman. But when I saw the Buck with the Bos and the BG 42, I was SOLD! What a perfect knife! The first knife I ever carried as a young hillbilly in WV was a stockman. Even to school and never thought twice about it.

Anyway, thanks Buck for making an awesome knife. I will be joining the "club." :)

Pretty knife!

I whole heartedly second your praise for this masterful collaboration of our little celebrated over achievers Craig (moderator) & Larry (V.P. BCCI) with Buck Knives on the quintessential American folding knife the Stockman. Bravo gentleman.

Oh wow, that picture says a thousand words. Very nice knife. How did they not sell out quickly! I wish I was a member at the time.

I also love the look of the satin finish blades on these folders and how they are made perfectly to nestle together just right. Wonderful.

Koot brought up a interesting question I have never considered for these knives. Can you use RIT dye and color their scales ? I have dyed two Vantages with Thermoplastic scales but never tried micarta. If so they could dye their BG stockman any color they want. I only have two so not trying it on mine.

I do know that when I stripped the paint off a Busse knife with Micarta scales, I was told I didn't have to take the scales off or worry about getting paint remover on them. They were right. I dunked the whole knife, scales and all, in stripper for a few hours and the scales looked great when washed off. Micarta is tough stuff.

Does anybody have some scrap they can play with?

I know this is a couple months old now, but I'd also be interested to know if anyone has RIT dyed their BCCI stockman. I have one arriving in a couple days and plan on using mine…I'm just not interested in it looking dingy white.
