I have the prototype of the latest BCCI fundraiser knife. There will be only 200 made and they will be available in the December newsletter on a first come, first serve basis. You must be a club member to order one. They should ship sometime in March. It's a stunning knife and I just had to share. This new fundraiser is a 110 with a drop point satin finished S30V blade with no nail nick. It's a finger grooved version with Sambar Stag handle slabs no handle pins. It'll come with a brown leather sheath and a limited edition box. It will not be serialized. The 110 has never been produced in this configuration before. This should be a highly collectible knife. Cost to members including shipping is $120.00. Anyone wishing to join the club in the next two weeks will receive the December newsletter and therefore will have an opportunity to purchase this knife.

I have two scans of this knife if anyone able would like to post them, just email me.

You can bet I will be placing my order before the mailman puts his truck in gear and moves on to the next mail box! I couldn't ask for a better version of the 110 if I dreamed up one on my own. This should be a beaut!

John -

I'm guessing you will fill the order on the first day, if you haven't started receiving the money orders already. How will you handle the unfilled orders???

Put me down for one to. It will be my first as a member. I was thinking on a Cabela's Alaskan Guide, but will hold off for sure now. Can't wait

We won't accept any orders before the newsletter is sent out. We have an order form that will need to be filled out and mailed. The fairest way to handle this is first come, first served and no pre-orders. If we receive more orders than knives available, we will simply return your check or money order. After all single orders are filled, if there are any knives left, duplicates may be purchased. We have this covered by a request section in the order form.

Chickentrax,

Thanks for offering to post the pics.

Thanks for putting that in the forum John...I just know that a lot of people besides me were wondering about the ordering of the knife. I've actually loved the wood and micarta used through the years and they have both been my preference as long as I have been old enough to buy my own knives. This will be the exception for me. I think it was the drop point configuration that did it. That is going to be one beautiful knife if my imagination is serving me right. Thanks again.

John -

Not to start an argument...but as a USPS employee, I know that local mail is guaranteed next-day delivery; and the farther away you live, the longer the mail will take...add in Holiday mail delays, the inevitable snow/airplane cancellations, and general snafus that occur, and you have a built-in bias for members nearest to the delivery address...

But I'm sure you've dealt with all this before... :D

...and it does make for a great membership drive incentive! ;)

...LOL...Thanks for posting those pictures Chickentrax...saves over-using my warped imagination. Beautiful knife isn't it? I like the "no-nick" look as well.

But the nail nick would be on the other side...along with the tang stamp/blade etching that Buckcustom is carefully not showing... :D :p ;)

After looking at the knife a while, I'd kind of like the radius on the cutting edge to be increased a bit...that would reduce the "belly" appearance a little. Opps...there goes my "Engineering" imagination again...LOL...Still a great looking prototype.

Chickentrax,

Your are absolutely correct about the mailing, but that is simply beyond our control. Actually, with our last newsletter, the last members to receive their's were from southern CA and the newsletters are mailed from San Francisco. I still haven't figured that one out yet.

Great looking knife!

I'd like to see that blade added to the 110 Custom Shoppe options...If what Vern Taylor said in his post about 426 Bucklite blades being re-ground 110 blades, it wouldn't be all that difficult to do...in all the available steels... :D

Buckcustom - what is the word on blade or tang markings??? Etching on the blade???

Chickentrax,
I will answer for John. The blade will not be etched and it will have a satin finish. As to the tang stamp, we will have to wait and see. It may have a Buck / Custom / U.S.A. stamp or it may be stamped BUCK / Idaho outline 110 / U.S.A. I would expect it to be stamped on the reverse side with the Bos logo /s30v / U.S.A.
I hope this helps.
By the way, the prototype has an old four dot 110 blade in it. John showed the reverse side of the knife to allow everybody to see how the knife would look sans nail nick since the knife will not have a nail nick.

John or Larry,

When the BCCI offers a fundraiser knife, are 200 usually enough to satisfy the orders that are received?

Tom

Tom,

With the exception of the Anvil 532 with desert ironwood handle slabs, we have always taken orders from club members and then placed an order with Buck Knives. We do that in order not to have to carry inventory of leftover knives. This has hurt many knife clubs in the past. If I remember correctly, we ordered 200 of the 532s, feeling confident that we could sell them because of their popularity. We have less than five of them left now.

Taking members' orders and then placing an order with Buck takes quite a bit of time. We wanted to eliminate the long wait and still not hurt the club with carrying leftover knives. Based on our average sale of 150 - 170 yearly club knives, we made the decision to order 200 110 drop points. We're hopeful that this amount will give everyone who wants one the opportunity to acquire one and that we will sell nearly all of them too.

We are learning as we go forward with projects like this.
