BDC Availability?

Hi guys, just a quick one.

After some advice a while ago from Daniel Koster that the BDC 14" (14-15) was a good bit of kit that out chopped its weight, and was lively in the hand I've been looking out for one. I stupidly sold my Kumar AK 15" and that left me with my 15" BAS.

I sent 3 - 4 emails over the course of 6 months to the HI email address enquiring if they were available as a special request item, but sadly got no reply. I'm assuming my emails are probably going into spam as they're from a hotmail address, and I've had this before :(

I posted a thread in the wanted forums a while ago, and have been stalking the Deal of the Day threads pretty regularly, hoping a BDC around 14" would show up. It's been about 6 months of checking now with no luck :(

Posting here as I'm wondering if these have been discontinued, or if the chances of finding one likely?

No HI Blade is really ever truly "discontinued" though some go AWOL for long periods and some are only made in small batches on rare occassions. Right now there is also the Kami situation to consider though this has brightened up considerably lately. Best bet is to simply email Yangdu. It is hard to believe she didn't reply at all actually unless your email/ISP is somehow marked by AOL as a possibole SPAM source and has been blacklisted. I speak from experience here so don't think I am accusing you of wrong doing here. I once had an ISP/email address that had been spoofed so many times that I was not able to send emails to anyone cold, only friends who had taken the time to white list me would get emails from me until I finally had enough and dumped them.

Try getting one of the many free email addresses like gmail and sending her an email through there. I would be you she'll reply and tell you what is going on with the BDC and when/if you can expect to see any of them pop up. :)

I picked up a BDC last November 20 from a DOTD. It was listed at 13" but was only 1/16" shy of 14" when I got it. There was another BDC in a DOTD earlier that month (11.2.09 IIRC). Both were made my Vim kami and had horn handles. Vim still shows up at BirGorkha to make some khukuris and Murali has come back to the fold. Once they get squared away with their personnel and get caught up you should be able to get one - even if it was special ordered. Follow the other good advice given above about another email account and check with Yangdu. She must not be getting your emails 'cause she always gets back in touch. Best to ya.

I have one too but since I can't check my little inventory right now I can't remember who made it, though I believe it was Bura. I got mine used so they dod pop up now and then so keep looking there too. You really never do know when something supremely rare or something you have been seeking for a long time will just leap into your hands. ;)

In fact, if someone was on the fence about selling theirs and reads this, you may even get a surprise here. I advise keeping the chance for folks to email you direct from the board open so the people of which I speak can get in touch with you. This is not my way of saying I have one to sell, just my way of saying you never know and I have gotten offers for things I was seeking by doing exactly what you are doing now. Good Luck Mindz_I!

Even in a different timezone, I was able to get Yangdu's email quick.

I use Gmail, in case you wonder.

Auntie is the most service-oriented person i've ever met ONLINE. Expect nothing but great satisfaction from her work.

I recently asked about a Berk Special as well. The Kamis will inform you via Yangdu if they are willing to make your custom order.

Thanks kindly for taking the time to search that out for me.

Thanks for the advice. I've checked the box so members can send me emails just in case anyone sees this. Didn't even realise that was an option. Fingers crossed someone has one :D

I was hoping that someone would see my wanted add, but I know I rarely browse those myself, so no surprise I've not got one.

Maybe I'll try my work email address as that shouldn't be blocked.

Stickfred:
Thanks. Will do so.

Aye, know several mates who have had no problem getting through, as it was one of them who bought me my khukuris along with their own. I
