I managed to drop my BDC ( Baby Dui-Chirra, New Model etc) off of my deck today. It fell one story and hit a concrete slab. Yeah I know :grumpy: :( . It was in its sheath and the only ( only  ) damage that it sustained was the horn handle...ahhhhh exploded. Well it didn't really explode but it is more then a super glue fix shall we say. After holding it in my arms and telling it I was sorry I started thinking...it would be big but this has a great shape for a kerambit. I have a few ideas on how to make the ring handle but wanted to run it by you all and see it I was just crazy from the shock of hearing it smack on the concrete or if this could in fact be a good idea. Many thanks everyone.

My sympathies! If that happened to me, I would do two things: write to Uncle Bill and place an order for a replacement horn handled BDC. The last 2 or 3 he has sold as UBBB's went for $55 or $60, way below the original $100 price. Maybe he could snag you one of those.

The second thing I would do is cut some new slabs out of a piece of old gunstock black walnut I have been saving and try to make a new handle. I'll bet with a bit of patience and sandpaper you could make a nice replecement. AND I think it would be easier than trying to make a karambit out it; _although_ .... (now that I think of it!) you could grind down and smooth out the tang and then weld a ring on the end, and still make slabs to boot. That 10" blade would make a hell of an upward curving karambit! Kinda on the large side though.

What the heck, order a replacement and then use this one to experiment with. Who knows? You might come up with a new HI design!

Later,

Wait a sec! One story onto concrete and the handle was damaged? Must have been a blem. :D Most HI blades could take that no sweat! ;)
