So, no real good storage method here for the Busse's that seem to keep accumulating... I have a collection problem. Anyhow, we have a spare room that sometimes becomes "Bob's storage room," and I had been laying the Busse collection on the bed.
Well, the door is normally closed, but I had gone in to grab my gun cleaning supplies tote. Going back in a half hour later, I realize I had never closed the door.
On the bed I see a large, faded red stain. It is right in front of my recently acquired and even more recently sharpened BATAC. Which I don't have a sheath for yet. Piecing together what must have happened, is one of my English Bulldogs (we have three) must have jumped on the bed, and I figured that dog licked the blade, started bleeding, and then licked the blood on the bed.
I tell my wife what happened, and she frantically goes into the room and starts cleaning the bed (she has OCD and goes into cleaning mode any time something catastrophic happens, refer to my "My Busse put me in the ER" thread for more evidence of this,) and I go track down the dogs. I knew it wasn't Oscar, he is too lazy to go into the spare room. So I check Lucy first, nothing on her tongue, then I check Molly, the youngest, and nothing on her tongue either. Then I notice she has a cut on her chin. Thankfully, the cut ended up being nothing major, can't even notice it today (this happened last night.) I was worried sick that the dog had majorly hurt her tongue, but it ended up just being a minor cut that she must have gotten when sniffing the blade. Thank god! These dogs are like kids to me.
Just wanted to let you all know, that be careful where you store your razor sharp 1+ pound pieces of steel!
Molly today, all recovered:
All three of them, passed out on my stepsons bed (not a great pic, I apologize):
