I just learned that somebody out there is stealing using one of my credit cards! This is especially painful as I use this card exclusively to buy knives/swords. Odds are one of the vendors I've done business with recently has a security issue or worse. I guess we need to be careful.

Loki,
Actually, there's a good chance the number was stolen from your garbage, unless you shred all your statements and receipts. Shredders are available from your local office supply store for under $30 and well worth the money.

Let no one ever from henceforth say one word in any way countenancing war. It is dangerous even to speak of how here and there the individual may gain some hardship of soul by it. For war is hell, and those who institute it are criminals. Siegfried Loraine Sassoon

I'm a credit manager, and I agree with the above posting. Always take your credit card carbon, shred everything, and if you have not already done so, call your vendors and cancel that card! The local credit bureau should let you enter a message at the end of your own report to explain unpaid and erroneous charges.--OKG

Amen to the above. A freind just had the shock of her life when she received a credit card bill for $10,000.00. She had never applied for the card but had thrown away the ad she was sent by the credit card company. They wanted her as a customer because she had such good credit. The investigation revealed someone had gotten her credit card app. , filled it in with a change of address and had the card sent to them. They then went on a spending spree and a oneway vacation to Florida. SHRED OR BURN ANY CREDIT CARD APPS. YOU DON'T USE. She still had to pay$50.00 on that bill.
