Be careful with the glue

A clean work area makes for a better project. I did not notice a little smudge of dried glue until far along the process. Now I have a spot right in the middle of the sheath I made and it gets worse the more I try to get rid of it

I know what you mean. That glue can sneak into places and it creates a barrier which keeps your oil or finish from penetrating. Have you tried glue thinner? If nothing else works, maybe you could camouflage it with some antique finish or something.

I think I will let the sheath age a bit and then see what it looks like. After some dings and scratches and use it may not bug me as much as it does now. You can even see dark streaks around it where I attempted to remove it

It depends on the brand (or formula) of your contact cement, but if you have the thinner for that particular cement you can put a little on a paper towel and gently scrub the offending cement off and neutralize it. It works for me almost daily. I use Barge and Barge thinner. Trying methods other than the proper chemical compound thinner will make the problem worse and then there is no correction.

I actually used titebond 3 carpenters glue this time. I read somewhere it works pretty good so I thought I would give it a go

I got some glue on the front of a sheath. I was upset and tried acetone on it .It took it off .I use a black dye to cover and can't really tell where it was at.It does need to be covered with a darker dye.
