Be prepared for delivery delays due to Christmas rush.

I'm getting too much email from customers wanting to know why their knife isn't in the mail box. It's the Christmas Rush. I'd guess mail volume has doubled or tripled over usual and it's taking its toll.

Better give deliveries an extra week or even 10 days so no need to email me. That won't speed things up.

I just came back from the P.O.. Line back to the door with people mailing packages. Opened a separate window outside the customer service area for people picking UP packages.

Seems to be starting alot earlier this year, from last year. Maybe, I'm just getting older and forgetful.... :D

I don't think so. Barb and I were out today and had to drive to a busy part of Tulsa to get some doggy treats, started to one store but the traffic was horrible so headed to the other one, traffic was even worse, but there was an easy way out so kept on and got the errand done.
Three times or more people out than usual! Tulsa's business index is up 8% over last years right now the indexes say! A good year for the retail merchants anyway!:D

It is good news. Christmas is the biggest sales time of the year for shops in America. More jobs and maybe even the whole recession will ease up some.

When I get to the P.O., there's generally a courteous employee directing new arrivals to wrap the line around the inside of the building so that the door isn't blocked. It doesn't matter if it's in the afternoon on a weekday or the morning on a weekend - it's busy over there. Nine out of ten times I'm in there in my cammies with a delivery notice in my hand. Just about the time I'm at the front of the line one of the employees calls out for anyone picking up packages to move to the front of the line. One or two people inevitably cut me off. They inevitably ask me if they've cut me off, despite the fact that they were directly behind me and that I'm somewhat hard to miss in a crowd of people that aren't dressed in cammies, are not bald, and are shorter than 6'2". I inevitably tell them to just go ahead, I'll get my package when I get my package. They inevitably go ahead.

Trips to the post office are always interesting but seldom fun. The season is not important. I'll get my package when I get my package and the other customers there will abuse my good nature. It's just part of the game.

Post offices have something in common with parking lots. They are humanity at its worst.

My packages get here when they get here. I'm not worried. Used to live in the middle of no where so I almost always got my packages a few days later then everyone else. This time of year the USPS handles probably 4 to 5 times the amount of packages compaired to the rest of the year, so there can be a lot of slow mail. Even the other companys have delays specially now. So please cut everyone some slack. Like UB said, you'll get the package, it just might be a little delayed.

For anyone that is interested, the USPS has Holiday shipping information on their web site which can be found Here! Has shipping deadlines, packaging tips, price quites, General holiday information, and all sorts of other cool things. Their website will also tell you about any known delays in shipping do to bad weather or other unavoidable circomstances. :D

They also have a toll free number you can call to scedule pickups, or deliverys of packages, get rates and other usefull information. Number is on the web site. If more people used those two resorces, it would take some of the load off the window clerks and you could avoid some of the long lines.

One more thing, please check out the Shipping deadlines if you can. It will give you an idea as to when you should send packages to have them their by Christmas. And also send early. ;)

I'll stop blabing now. :footinmou

Patience is a virtue that some people have. ;)

In November it just took a period of 4 days (1 day gain due to International date line) for a shipment of a Seax from Uncle Bill to reach me in Malaysia!

After 11 days my Kumar Karda is not arrived yet at Malaysia!

I was going to e-mail Bill the other day about getting a tracking number if he had one. I realise that shipping does take longer this time of year, and that Bill is doing the same thing he always does (gets stuff out very quickly). It showed up that day so the e-mail never happened. But it was just so odd that an HI product would take more than two days in country.

Well that explains why my villager took a few extra days to arrive. I should have guessed, though. I'll be sure and mail it out to my uncle in California so that it gets there before Christmas. Thanks for the heads up, Bill (and Yangdu).

Thanks, UB! A gift Kagas Katne arrived very swiftly, with no noticeable delay. Perfect knife at a perfect speed. Thanks! :)

Happy Holidays,

I'm having the same concern my JKM ordered on 12/2 is still missing in the mail and it's a five hour drive to Reno from my house must be the Kalifornia boarder stop

Frogfish, I'm waiting for a KK that I ordered on the same day. Hope springs eternal...

Strangely enough, though, the Sarge's Hunter that I ordered on that day arrived... Go figure.

The post office must not like Kalifornia

Thought it might not hurt to bring this back up, while also allowing me to vent a bit. Indeed USPS seems to be backed up and patience is not my virtue when it comes to new knives. :grumpy:

I have four different knife orders on their way and every one is way beyond the normal delivery time. I am most antsy to get my replacement khukri from Uncle Bill, it is an AK. Last shipment took one day from Reno to Portland, OR. This time I am on day four with no idea what to expect. The other knives shipped are now a week overdue. Kicking myself for not choosing UPS ground when the choice was available, I thought priority mail would be faster. Sure wish that USPS was able to keep things a little closer to normal during the holiday rush. They don't make any promises on the 2-3 day delivery time do they?

I am ready to do some cutting and chopping!

I don't know about the universe, but you just earned a place in my heart because of this.
