This may seem like like stating the obvious but stay alert and don't get complacent when chopping kindling !
The reason I say this is that today I miss struck the wood and chopped into my finger,it wasn't a big deal and didn't even need stitches but It could easily have been more serious.Chopping wood is something I do with my knife every day and never give it a thought because I try to be carefull and have never before missed but as with other aspects of life you can become complacent.I read on here of many of you using knives far more dangerous looking than my wood cutter which for anybody wondering is an old british army knife about the same dimensions as a SRKW Camp tramp but with a convex grind I put on.Forgive me going on but it took me by suprise, don't let yours bite you !!!!!
