Spent an awesome day at Surfer's Point here in Ventura, CA. Walking up the coast with my son. Had my Bk10 "The Skunk" with me. Didn't use it, but had it with me just in case.

Here's a sealion that was pretty curious. Always fun to watch these intelligent animals.

And here's a Mermaid's purse. Aka a shark egg sack. Very cool to find.

This is a giant "hoop" made of concrete and steel. I have no idea what ot was originally.

And here's what appears to be a dolphin spine... yeah you never know what's going to be washed up on shore.

And to cap it off, here's a California sunset. Thanks for looking everyone!

Very cool man. Have only been to the ocean a few times, both times in Maine.

Thanks everyone. One of the best things about living on the California coast. I'm going to try and go pier fishing in the next couple of weeks, I'll get some better Becker pics hopefully then.

Thanks for the pics. Our coast only gets sunrises. And could that circular thingy be an old WW II artillery emplacement? We've got a few here still, but most of them are up in big stone towers near the river mouth. They even caught a U-boat in the submarine net that used to be across it. The outer circle looks like it has a metal track - there's something that looks a lot like it at Fort Constitution here in New Castle, NH:

Granite, I think you hit the nail on the head about that large concrete/steel circle. We had our share of submarine encounters, but ours came from Japan.

^Was thinking the same thing as GSOM. Similar circular constructions can be found all over Western Europe, and date back to WW2. Some are indeed artillery, others AA (Flak). Very cool! Love how much stuff you found. I would have taken my knife to the guitarfish and cut out the jaw though. When you clean the jaws with little scalpels and let them dry, you can get some awesome display pieces. If you want them really white, you can put them in bleach for a very short time too.
For example, an other type of guitarfish jaw:

Wow G-Shark, I would have totally done that had I known they could turn out that cool. Something to do the next time I find one. Thanks for the picture!

Some more pictures

Here's a California Aglaja, a type of carnivorous sea slug.

And here's a California Brown Sea Hare, another sea slug and quite a bit larger.

Found out the hard way that they will ink you if you disturb them too much. The ink, by the way, is purple.

And if you've ever wondered what California Sea Lions do most of the day...
