For everyone lamenting over a rusted/rusting bead blasted finish there is hope!

Heres an easy way to turn your production bead blasted finish into a very nice satin finish.

I discovered this when I was mirror polishing my spydercard...
I dont know if anyone else has done/posted this before (didn't do a search)

You'll need:
1x green scotch brite pad (used one preferrably to a new one)
1x tube flitz metal polish
1x firm/hard felt pad
1x soft cloth
and some elbow grease.

Step 1:
The reason you want a used scotch brite pad is because its broken in a little and wont make the deep scratches in the surface that a new one will. Take the scotch brite pad and and work it in one direction left to right, or up and down, or just left, right, up, down, doesn't really matter. Do this until you have a even finish all over the surface. Only do this once and dont change directions, pick one and stick with it. If you do this too much without a sanding block you might blur your grind lines and flats too much. You could color the surface with magic marker first just to make sure you worked the surface evenly, you could even use the scotch brite pad with oil or water.

Step 2:
Now that you've finished with the scotch brite pad the surface should have fine scratches all over the surface (all the magic marker should be gone if you decided to do that part). Take a little bit of the (a little goes a long way) Flitz and hard/firm felt pad and work the Flitz into the surface until the tiny/fine scratches disappear. The reason I use a felt pad is so I can apply pressure to the work surface. Don't worry this wont take that long, this isn't one of those posts were you polish the blade for a month with MMAAP (Mothers Mag And Aluminum Polish). Work the surface until the Flitz on the felt pad turns into a dark gray paste, then add fresh Flitz to the felt pad. Do this about 5 times or until the fine scratches are no longer visible. Use the soft cloth (I used an old t-shirt) in between applications of Flitz to see how things are going and for the final clean up.

Thats it, it wasn't that painful was it? You should now be left with a very fine satin finish. I did a little bit of experimenting and applied this to the grind area of my spydercard with excellent results. I'll try to post pictures as soon as I can find a reliable photo hosting service.

Let me know how it turns out. :D

I thought you were going to explain how you do your beadblasting
You described how to hand rub a blade
?????

after doing a bunch of searches about rusting blades, bead blasting, and hand rubs, the same posts kept coming up, maybe I placed this post in the wrong forum, but I thought it would help people having similar problems

sorry if it was confusing.
