This is my first attempt at bead blasting. I used a fine glass bead. It is 3/16" 440c with 3/8" guard. Handle is micarta and black walnut. I distressed the sheath a little with sand paper to make it looked weathered.

I like! Couple of things I'd suggest for the next one, though: the scales look slab-sided and like they wouldn't be very ergonomic, but I can't judge that one too well through the screen, and the choil... seems kind of off to me. Not big enough to use to choke up on, but still seems very conspicuous in terms of design.

That, and people get a better sense of a pictured knife if you list OAL (overall length) and blade length. If I had either of those, I'd be able to get a sense of just how big that choil actually is :p

I didn't think about putting the OAL. I believe the knife is probably larger than the pic reveals. I don't have it with me but I would guess it is probably 10-11" in length.

Randy,

The bead blast looks great. Do you know how durable it will be?
I would guess that strong enough scratches would show as shiny.

You did a very nice job on the sheath, also.

That's a beautiful knife, Randy. Well done. The red spacer work is especially well executed. I think may Bob may have a point with regards to the choil, however. I think most folks would probably either like the cut out just a tad smaller - to maximize the length of the cutting edge - or slightly larger so that you could slip your index finger in there. But that's just a small point on what is overall a fantastic knife.

I agree, it would probably look better if the choil were smaller. The bead blast looks great but it is very fine, I will have to experiment with different grits to achieve a variety of looks. I look forward to trying it on some other knife designs I have done.
