Bead blasted look for Sebenza screws?

Well I tried flipping the screws on my small sebbie for a while but just didn't care for the shiny look of them so now they're back to normal. I do however like the smoothness of the look. Is there a simple way I can get a bead blasted type finish on them at home? I believe I saw a pic somewhere on this forum where someone had done that.

Very fine sandpaper perhaps? Or, and this might be ridiculous, I could try rubbing on them on a Sharpmaker rod.

It's just that I want to use a proven method. I'd hate to start on this and find it isn't turning out the way I want.

Thanks!

CRK offers the blasted over screws. They are nice and add a different touch. It would be kinda hard to get that exact look without bead blasting them. But you should be able to dull the "shiney" look of them with some sand paper. Definately something with a high grit. Maybe in the 220 grit and higher range. Here is a pic of my tanto sebbie with Barry H handle and blasted over screws.

Many shops have beadblasters...you could try a local automotive or motorcycle shop...screw the male and female together and tape the middle section and it should take them a bout a minute.

Another option for a satin look would be to chuck them up in a hand drill using a piece of 600 grit against the surface will produce a very nice satin finish.

Very cool NM...i like it. :)

Good ideas. Would CRK send me a couple sets of the bead blasted screws? Of course I could just give them a call and ask directly.

I know the regular finish ones cost 1.00@ for the male screw and the female's are 7.00@...24 bucks plus shipping...cheaper to have yours blasted (IMO).

I suggest buying properly BBed fittings from CRK.

I bought my Shhbenza from them with BBed fittings and uncoloured thumb stud and spacer. I prefer that look to the blue and polished version.

I think you guys spend to much time lookin at your Seby''s and not enough time using them.

What's wrong with desiring a knife that performs well and looks great?

Looks real good:thumbup:

FYI, there are many different medias which can be used when bead blasting. Aluminum oxide is very popular, but leaves a rather aggressive texture, like a stock Sebenza handle.

I happen to use Zirblast, which is a French made ceramic media that leaves a very fine, peened, jeweled appearance.
