I need help...
I want to get into bead blasting for touch up and re-do's on my knifes and guns. I particularly am interested in being able to achieve a fine, smooth (Non-Grainy) finish.

What do I need as far as equipment? Type of compressor? Type of spray unit? Pressure used? and especially...what type of material should I use (Ceramic, glass etc.) that I can touch up blades without blowing away etched logos. I also want to be able to touch up Kydex rub marks.

Can this type of touchup be done without destroying etched logos or do I need to stay away from the logo completely? If I have to stay away from the logo, what's the chance I can blend the finish if I don't know the original material that was used?

The main piece in question is a Polkowski Pug. Anyone know what Al uses as a material and method??

Sorry for the long winded question. I'm really ignorant on this topic and want to do it right.

Thanx in advance for your help?

I have two separate systems set up. One for ceramic bead, the other for silicon carbide. Both are pressure pot systems. Pressure pots offer the most blast control and minimize compressed air use. I would buy the largest cabinet that you can fit in your workspace! I started off with small cabinets and they are a pain. Dust collection is probably the most important part of the process. I have a regular dust collector from Grizzly with $200 HEPA filters in it. It's the fine dust that goes through the dust collector bags that will KILL you.
Feel free to email me with any other questions you might have.
