Hey guys and gals,
I usually bead blast all my micarta scales but I have seen bead blasted G10 and was wondering if there are any tips on doing this ? See, I am a little afraid because G10 grinds up so easily and finely (more so than Micarta), I thought it might actually get damaged if bead blasted...? what do you think ? I have several knives ready to be blasted and thought that their G10 scales would look cool bead blasted as well... Any input is greatly appreciated. Take care and HAppy New year.....RDT

I blast it all the time, it has less of a layered look than micarta but takes a much nicer texture when blasted IMO. I am using a garnet blend with Aluminum Oxide grit so I am probably blasting a lot more aggressive than glass bead, GO FOR IT!!

Oh, i also use a light coat of oil to bring the color back into the g10 after blasting, i use reds and such and nothing is as gross as a nice knife with pink G10 on it from the dust and fine particles.

I have blasted lots of it in the past. I used glass beads and stayed back so it wont round out the edges too much. I like the look and texture.

Thanks guys, I will use a light grit and hold it farther away. Thanks a million....RDT
