Anyone here do their own bead blasting? I've stripped a Molle Jack and am thinking of having it blasted... Just figured I'd ask someone here who has blasted their own blades before. Think the guy I have local who will do it is trying to rip me off.

Maybe you can send the knife back to Busse. I'm sure they'll do it for you.

Hey Raden,
I have one and do a LOT of Busse and those Cheese Heads, yet to do some scrap. I normally charge 15 to 20.00 for a standard size blade, 25 to 30 for something in the Mistress size. How close is this?

If your wanting that Mole Jack done bro, just let me know. :D

Local guy is asking 100 bucks and I won't pay that much... I could see maybe 50.... I wouldn't feel right asking Busse Shop.. but I'm sure they would if I asked

$100.00 is a rip off! what's he using gold dust!!

let the leatherman do it! "jack of all trades"

Dwayne... Just talked with your wife :D figured I needed some leather as well... will get the MJ on the way out the door :D

SOD that's the very cabinet I have :) It's not perfect and does leak dust through the top window, but it gets the few blasting jobs I need done. I usually take it out side so I don't have to hook up the shop vac to it. DO wear a mask/resperator though. Silica dust is not something you want in yer lungs. I run mine off an 11 gallon compressor so I do spend a little time waiting for pressure to rebuild as blasting uses a lot of air but it only takes me 5-10 minutes to do a blade.

Trollish remarks are not tolerated here.

If you have specific information to add, do so intelligently.

You have earned an infraction.

Welcome to the Busse forum.

Hmmm... leathermaster, beadblaster. It sort of rhymes! PM sent leatherhog.

Bill, what type of media do you use/recommend?

WDB, if I was planning on opening a shop that would be one thing, but for my uses I think the "piece of crap" would be just fine.

I found allot of good info today on the maker’s forum about the Harbor Freight blasters if anyone is interested, start there. I think I may pick one up this weekend.

It's a ------------

My "piece of crap" is going on six years and still going strong in spite of the vulgar response. :barf: If its good enough for Bill, its more than good enough for me. Take a few net etiquette courses WDB. :grumpy:

Gotta get me a better mask though.

PM's recieved and will respond asap. :D

Here is the cabinet I have:

I think it is a step up from the one SOD posted, I like it a lot and it works well for me. I usually have to do a sand blast first to cut into the blade, then use the glass bead to give it the nice finish.

after seeing this thread i am considering doing some bead blasting of my own. the one you have looks nice, how much did you pay? the link doesn't have a price that i could find.
what size compressor do you use? mine is small and i am thinking of upgrading anyway.
