Bear and Antelope Hunter Knives

For a birthday present for my stepson I was looking at purchasing his first namebrand hunting knife when I came across these two models from Kershaw. Both are very moderately priced but boasts AUS8A steel blades. Does anyone have experience with either of these two models?
On a side note, I am not interested in spending more than $40 dollars on the gift, the boy looses things constantly.
