Hello ladies and gentlemen. I was wondering if any of you have one of the bear and sons single blade peanuts in 1095 and if so, how are they?

Im thinking of picking one up but id like to know how they are first.

Id also like to hear about any experience you have with bear and son in general. I know theyve been viewed unfavorably in the past. Has their qc gotten any better?

Thanks

Nobody?

Ok then, anyone have any experience with any single peanuts that are currently still being made? Ive got a gec coyote thats really awesome, i love the size and how slim it is, but i prefer a clip point blade over a sheepsfoot. I saq the tiny toothpick, but i really dont like the california clip

Me neither, except for the Taylor Schrade liner-lock (mini-mite?). And with the locking liner it probably isn't that much thinner than a two-blader. If that's your issue with the two-bladers.
Maybe you'll have to get the Bear & Sons and let us know.

Yep, thats exactly why i was looking at single blade peanuts, the slimness(?). Ive found the coyote fits in the change pocke of my wallet with just enough room for my dmt pocket sharpener. Makes everything i need truly in one place except for my mini flashlight.

I guess ill have to be the brave soul who sees how the bear and son single blade peanut. Woe is me, having to purchase and review a new knife. :D haha

No experience with that company but if your looking for a single blade peanut check out Schrade Old Timer 12ot. I have one of the Copenhagen ones great little knife!

Ive tried, but sellers on auction sites are selling older nib ones at a premium. Im quite fond of carbon steels and its hard enough determining which older ones are even carbon

Case has made a few single blade peanuts through the years. I see them in stag on a certain auction site regularly.

Someone had a high end boker I believe on the peanut thread that was recently released but they called it something other than a peanut.

No knowledge of Bear apart from 2nd hand accounts I've heard, mostly unflattering.....

Schatt & Morgan may have some kind of single blade small knife close to a Peanut.

Here's the Böker Pen in thick jigged bone. 2 blades on one spring, my preference actually.

Here's the Schatt 'Barlow' in Stag but I think it's more like a Tadpole. RR Mini Barlow single blade below, another decent small knife.

Glad to be of help. I'm a big peanut fan.

Me too. The small size, the big for its frame blades. Phenominal knife all around. The peanut made me realize how little knife i actually need, and i will always look upon it fondly. The only real issue i have is that its a bit thick fir wallet/ back pocket carry, so i figured ill try something new. Ill most likely come back to the peanut in a couole weeks(as always). But its worth a shot right?

Hows the fit and finish of the boker pen?

And if carbon, hows it compare to cases carbon?

I have a Bear & Sons Damascus mini-trapper, which seems to me to be like a peanut with an extra blade.

The fit and finish is decent, not up to the standard of a top of the line Case or GEC etc, but there are no gaps and the blades have good walk and talk.

There is a little side to side wiggle with both blades, but otherwise it's a nice little knife, and I would certainly not hesitate to buy another B&S if one of their patterns caught my eye.
