Hello I just got back into slippies,I currently own a Rodger Sheffield England scout knife (looks like a SAK) a couple Rough Riders,a US Classics Moose, and a cheapo Klein Tools lockback,I was wondering about Bear and Sons and about their quality,I had a few Case knives but quickly sold them because I didn't like how they didn't have a good snap and I hated how there were gaps in the knives, are Bear and Sons any good for the money?

If you can look at them before buying, then you might find a good one. To date, I haven't found a B&S that didn't have issues, most of the time major issues.

Thanks Chris,I guess I've been a little spoiled into wanting perfection or at least close to perfect,I used to own and collect the USA made Schrades and they were top notch as well as old Camillus knives.

I bought one from SMKW. Loose blade in all directions, and horrible blade grind. It was the locking sod buster style. Horrible workman ship. I would never buy another, and what ashame as I want to buy USA when I can....

Love mine. YMMV.

This is where I'm at as well. I have a small collection of SCHRADE USA knives that I simply adore. I'm thinking about pressing my little Schrade Sharpfinger into service, but have noted that Bear & Sons make a similar knife. Any comments on that one?
Another possibility are Canal Street Knives. I'm led to believe that they employ many of the old craftsmen/women from the now defunct Schrade factory? I can't seem to find verification of that yet, but am also led to believe that they now occupy the old Schrade building? Can anybody verify this one way or the other? Thanks.

Same problem.I wanted the small one and the vendor didnt send it because it was defective. He sent me the large one for the same price and refunded my shipping and it was horrible.I have since bought a small one that is decent.Im quite surprised to hear the Case complaints.I buy them regularly and have so far dodged any problem.

I have a remington that was made by B and S and it has a horrible gap as in daylight shines through. I'm shocked to hear about Case. They are my absolute favorite slippie company. Look like YMV.
