Ok so I’m finally getting a custom Bowie but I’m torn between the kind of bone that I want I’m thinking about some kind of bear bone but I don’t know if it’s a good idea or what kind of bear to get the bone from can you folks help me narrow down the options

I've seen bear bone used as a handle seldomly. The femur or the jaw bone. While not sexy, cattle shin bone, and now camel and giraffe leg bones are considered the best in terms of toughness, because of the bone density that comes with them. Bear bones are surprisingly dainty in comparison.

The strength of the bear doesn't come from it's bone, I would forgo that option. While not fun or exotic, cattle bone is likely better, as mentioned above

thanks for letting me know

I have heard giraffe bone is tough, but have also heard it is harder to come by now.

Assuing that this custom Bowe is to be a display knife rsther than a practical cfamp knife for daily belt wear :

Consider a bear's jaw b one with teeth.

Another primal look is a piece of thigh bone with the knee joint as pommel.

Whatever you do with this project, plase post pictures when done.
