I'll being doing a real review of the Bear Cub after I get a chance to use it a while as I think I'm really going to like it. The Kephart/Bear Paw are a couple of favorites so this shouldn't be any different.

I've had some requests for comparison shots, so here it is with the Bear Paw and Kephart.

And vs some specific models - EDKarda and Hiding Buddy:

Any other comparisons, just let me know.

Thanks Nathan!! This is very helpful. I am excited to try the bear cub at some point. That one you got is a beauty! Seeing these pics make me want to hold a bear paw some day too.

Thanks for the photos, I've too been wondering how the Bear Cub fit in the family. It looks like it will carry easily and has the great Kephart blade profile. The handle appears to be taller and boxier, like the Bear Paw, and not quite as curvaceous as the Kephart but maybe it's just the angle of the photo.

You're welcome guys. I'll take a few more shots from the spine and end and will get the calipers out to measure the handle, cuz I think you're right that it's a little taller and not as curvaceous as the Kephart.

Thanks for the pics Nathan. I'm gonna have to pick one up. I love the Kephart and Bear Paw, but they're a little on the large side for an EDC. I think the Bear cub would fit the bill. Looking forward to more pics!

First up, some measurements comparing the Bear Paw, Kephart, Bear Cub. See the below picture for the height measurement points, done at the min/max points of swells on each blade. Measurements in inches.

Some analysis: The Bear Cub handle resembles the Kephart with the belly being forward on the handle more than the Bear Paw which has the belly pushed toward the end. The swells on the Bear Cub aren't as dramatic as the Kephart, but that could be due to having less length to play with.

I think the Bear Cub makes a great EDC. The handle is a little short for me to want to use it as a woods knife, but that's what the Bear Paw is for anyway. The Bear Cub is a great new addition to the Kephart family.

Thanks for this! I think that the Bear Cub is probably the new model that I am most interested in getting my hands on.

Nice pics man, nice comparison shots.

I still want to give the full size one a go, and this isn't helping me resist the one in the Friday post :)

I'm having a hard time keeping up with the new models that have been released recently, so threads & pics like these are a great help understanding what they are.

Thanks Thurin!
