I got my bear cub in the mail today from last Fridays sale. Honestly I didn't know what to expect form it. I had always liked the looks of them, but hadn't really read or seen a lot of talk about them.

Man when I unwrapped that knife I was stunned. It is the perfect size and I love the blade shape. I can't believe how well it sits in my hand. Granted these are just my first impressions. I haven't had the knife out in the woods yet (though it will be) or even used it enough to write a review. With that said I can't wait to get out and use this thing. It just begs to be used. I am anxious to see how I like the AEB-L steel (since this is my first knife in this steel).

I don't have a Kephart...yet...but is the bear cub a compact Kephart? It seems to have the same blade shape.

Here is an obligatory picture. The desert ironwood is spectacular.

I'll agree on the first impressions! I've held but never used one, and I was really impressed. It's been on the "side list" for a while now. I'm sure I'll find one I really like one day.

This one you got is a stunner for sure!

Thanks! I have always been a sucker for desert ironwood.

For some reason I always thought that the bear cub was more like the monarch. Now that I have one the differences are obvious.

Man, the ergonomics of the bear cub handle are impressive. It just melts into your hand.

Melts into your hand was my experience as well. I sharked that Osage one for part of a trade deal, so it only stayed with me for a few days before getting sent off. There we're a few occasions that I wanted to keep it! Haha .
