What's the skinny on the Bear & Son Gold Rush Bowie with a 9" blade and cocobola handle? Made in Jacksonville, Alabama. Go Tide! Anyone here with any hands-on experience? Is it worth ~$95.00 (with leather sheath)? Thanks.

Bear and Son have produced some knives with quality issues. Lot of threads about those in General and Traditional.
However, I only have one knife made by them and it's well made.

try case Bowie.
I already own several Bowies and Bowie-like knives so I'm in no hurry. The Case Bowie is definitely on my list, though! I might even go crazy and get the white-handled model.

The Case Bowie is really cool. For some reason it seems to antagonize the knife "experts" who clearly have no idea of its lineage. They have no clue that it's based to a large degree on the Collins WWII USMC Marine Raider V-44 Bowie Knife. Heck, they usually have no clue about it at all except it looks "funny" to them.

That fact alone makes me want to own one. Just as soon as a killer deal comes along...

Instead of spending $100 on a knife each year, put a $100 deposit on a Randall Made Bowie. Then put $100 a year towards it. In about 6 years you’ll get a nice package in the mail.

Just offering an alternative plan. This is the knife I’m ordering about 6 years before I retire They have others The Smithsonian Bowie is nice tooView attachment 1573353
A $50 deposit will lock in today’s price then when it’s ready you will pay about $150 less than the current price.

In my never to humble opinion it Looks just as horrible as the Case version, says the guy from Alabama that is definitely not a Bowie expert. Having said that if it's your cup of tea I think that the bear and son version is of approximately the same quality as the case version.
