Found a local store (Black Sheep) that has several of these on the rack from old stock for less than $25.

Classic Stockman (3.5-inch), USA, brass liners, nickel silver bolsters, wood scales. Good edge, good snap.

No mention of the type of steel beyond "high carbon stainless," so I presume it's one of the 440 varieties.

I picked up a couple of them last week, one for me, one for my son.

Pictures when I get a moment.

I'll let you know how it drives.

What is the F&F on the knives?

I have a small stockman in oak.
The F&F is so poor, all the grinds are at odd angles, the back springs are rounded, and at an angle.

It 'should' have been an example of 3rd world manufacturing!
Was I unlucky?
If so the person doing QA was asleep!

That all said, I am really 'fond' of it for all of its oddness!! LOL

Pretty good, overall.

There are no ledges where the wood meets the bolsters. The brass liners are completely flush with the springs. The bolster ends are uniform and round. The center pin is flush with the wood. The snap is really good, the blade finish is smooth and uniform. The spines are all well polished.

The only thing not quite up to par was the edge on the pen blade, and the sheepsfoot was less than perfect.

I actually had to stone the pen and sheepsfoot to get the edge I needed, but it's fine now.

The grind was not perfect. Good, but not perfect. Both Case and Buck edges are typically better.

However, after fixing the edges, I find it quite satisfactory.

Pix tomorrow.

Here's the stockman.

In the package.

It's not a bad piece, but in their shoes I'd have taken a little more time to clean up those edges and charged another couple of bucks.

With the edges cleaned up, she's real nice.
