This knife was a christmas gift from my farther because I have always wanted a classic bowie design. However, I did not do any in-depth research into this particular knife or the company; which I now regret not doing. But anyways, as many know this company has had many issue with cosmetic details. This review is actually on my second knife, the first one had so many issues I had to return it. Overall the knife in actual functional use seems to be decent and would make a good camp knife with some light duty chopping on small saplings.
This is the biggest issue I had with the knife is that the scales do not cover the tang completley. I asked the lady if she has a different one I could see and she "that's the price you pay for a handmade knife", I looked at her like she was an idiot. I usually only go to that store if the guy I know is working their. Since he is the only one who knows anything about knives. Otherwise it's like talking to the guy at Best Buy who reads off the F@#!king label.
At the beginning of the swedge one will notice that the grind is off
Here is the sheath which is a swivel leather sheath, you will see the button that causes the scratches on the blade
This pic represents the thickness of the sheath which is okay but the leather isn't the best. It is actually quite flexible and almost feels fragile.
**Update**
So I just put it through a bit more abuse, I went to town on a small sassafras which isn't the best test considering the hardness of the wood. But it did test the sharpness which was fair. To test the edge retention and durability I used a dry piece of 1x8 lumber. I did fairly well considering that this knife doesn't excel in any particular field. So i'm still saying that it is a decent knife. I do wish however that they did the same type of grind as the Camillus W-49 Bowie. A hollow groun just isn't my favriote for camping chores.
