Hey Folks,

I thought I'd start a thread on the merits and miseries of all things beard. This was me a few month back after about 20 months of growth. I loved my beard, but decoded to shave it recently. The reasons are numerous, but two in particular stand out.

1) Grooming it takes time ... a lot of time!

2) Grinding metal and wood really requires the use of a respirator ... beards are not conducive to good sealing.

I've found that without my beard ... I feel a little less connected to mother nature. Its kinda like the whiskers were meant to be there ... dangling from my chin like examples of natural camouflage ... possessive of mysterious powers.

I just don't feel the same without it.

With that being said, Lets see some other members beards! What did/do you like/think about the God Given, Almighty Beard?

Bobby

I feel for you man I stopped shaving at 17 had one that ZZ Top would envy, my wife and Daughters talked me into shaving it off on my 40th birthday "just to see what I looked like without it "
And 8 years later I still feel I've lost something.

My hair was elbow length its gone too:grief:

There's a special channel on cable tv just for men who don't have beards. The channel is called "Lifetime."

:D

I've always gotten a good seal with the CABA suits, but a couple of years ago I had a job at a lead mine with an absolute rule of No Facial Hair. In addition to the respirator fit, they are concerned about lead contamination traveling back to the camp. Luckily, it grew back out before I got home. :)

You nailed how I feel without my beard Bob

Technically at work I am not allowed to have a beard, but my boss told me as long as I keep it professional and trimmed he said he doesn't mind. This is a recent picture from a road trip with my wife:

My beard is the only place I have grey hair. Other than that, I love my beard. I have a face that is not typically very photogenic, but everyone looks good with a beard!

Funny thing about that picture. I saw someone at work who I had not seen in quite a while (I've had the beard 8 months or so) and the first thing he asked me was "When did your face get so damn awesome?"
