Bearded Hatchet

Now that I've moved out to the Appalachians and plan to do some hiking, camping and hunting, I've been looking for a small hatchet. I've seen a number of small bearded hatchets on E-Bay that all seem to be coming out of Slovkia and Bulgaria. Can anyone fill me in on their serviceability?
