Jiminy:

If you keep making these hawks, I am gonna succumb to the urge to buy...eventually anyway. I'd probably do something "stupid", like using it for real camping work. In your mind, are your creations meant for display, or for real world use? Anyway, nice hawk. It would look good on my mantle too.

Many thanks for the kind words.

RE: display or real world use? Good question. But a hard question to answer :)

I suppose that would really be entirely up to the buyer.

Lets face it ...tomahawks that retain their 'weaponlike' looks are hard to carry around these days in civil society. By the same token, small axes and hatchets are rather ugly, somewhat heavy, and not much use for anything but chopping wood. And what passes for 'display pieces' are ...generally good only for display.

I guess these sort of ...attempt to walk the fence. They are tool steel, hardened and tempered for use, but crafted to look nice also. If a person was going hiking, hunting, camping, backpacking, etc., I imagine they could easily carry one of these as a 'tool' without raising an eyebrow.

By the same token, they could easily fit in to a reenactor's costume as a display piece of weaponry ...albeit a fully functional piece.

Do you see where I'm going with this? :)
