ive been thinking about using militec on my skateboard bearings for a while now, but just wanted to know if anyone thinks its a good idea first. anyone try it?

Personally, I see it as a waste. In all my days skating (finally quit not too long ago), I never regularly lubed my bearings.

Militec is some expensive stuff. I'd rather use motor oil or something... Maybe nothing.

Designed for different things. For bearings a 20 weight oil is about the best though grease is use in auto bearings for convenience....In Viet Nam days the military wanted one lube only for helicopter bearings for service from hot to arctic cold .That lube was too thin for Viet Nam and we saw many failures due to the lube.

I imagine the stresses on skateboard bearings would not be much different than those on bicycle wheel bearings. Most bike wrenches use either automotive (white lithium) grease or some of the new synthetic greases.

I use some synthetic red stuff that looks like gel toothpaste and stinks. Good lube, though.

well I remember from way back in my skateboard days (like a thousand years ago), I would always use oil. Oil always sucked because it would just leak out or "burn off" too quickly. Now I would say that a good grease would be a much better lubricant.....I said lubricant :D :p

If you spend alot of time with your board, it may be worth investing in a bottle of Phil Wood Tenacious oil. It is clear green in a green bottle. Although this stuff is quite viscous, once it sets in it really does a good job of reducing friction. Anyone who has shot some in a cleaned and air blasted bicycle freewheel (yep, I still do the freewheel!) will hear almost nill when spinning it around. Silence is golden! :) Speaking of "shot", that red stuff that stinks must be some Bullshot brand grease from yesteryear!

The tube is so squished I'd have to unroll it to read the brand name; only a couple of squirts left! I've had it for about 10 years.
