Hello all;
I'm curious if anyone is using the Busse Beating Heart as a camp knife?
Batoning wood for fires, general fire prep, food prep?
Or are you guys seeing the Beating Heart as more of a "Survival knife"?
Thx
Steve

Hello all;
I'm looking real hard at the Busse Beating Heart! Would be my first Busse Combat knife.
Question:
Is anyone out there using the Beating Heart as a hard use camp knife??
Batoning wood, breaking wood into kindling, fire duties!
Chopping on a small scale.
Food prep.
Using Beating Heart as a primary belt knife for survival?
Thx
Steve Nelson

Not yet but that's my plan! I own a ton of infi and it is such a great in-between size. Not small so you can get away with limbing. Not to big so you can process food. I think it would be perfect for what you are looking for.

Oh, sorry. I was going to say ask to have your thread moved to the Busse forum, but that mods already took care of it.

No problem I figured two places would be better than one

thx for replying! Was kinda hoping I was on the right track

I would say it fills the role of a “camp knife” very well. Haven’t had any issues with mine. Works great and takes a beating. Which is what I would say about the majority of the Busse lineup. Hard to lose whichever model you choose. But yes the beating heart is definitely one of my favorites.

Wow, that War Train is a beast!!
I wish Busse would offer the "FAT" blades again!
It is wide but thin :)

If that makes sense.

very wide or tall 3.0" but only .280" thick

the later versions were even a little thinner :)

I often use my NMFSH for a camp knife as you’ve described. Still one of my very favorite Busse of all time!!! It’s thick, so it chops and batons like a champ, BUT it’s also a tall full-height flat grind, which allows it to still slice fairly well.

Even though the Beating heart is a saber grind, it is thinner, so I’d bet that the primary grind angle is pretty similar.

Might be a bit on the large, heavy side for a “survival” knife if you’re backpacking/hunting/woods bumming any real distance from your vehicle.
