He has a series on this blade, re-profiling, feather sticks, speed cuts, and then this!

I saw this too. I'm surprised the Griptillian put up with all that battoning. I wonder if it had any major blade play issues after all that? I asked, but have yet to hear back.

EDIT: I just checked and I have heard back from him. Zero blade play in any direction.

I was going to say, he just used it again and it looked to be in top shape. BenchMade has some videos on their forum under the lab section where they beat the heck out of some folders and other blades. They also have a machine that will breaking them by applying down force and side force which measures the breaking point. The Adamas is crazy strong and beats a lot of fixed blades on the market. Watch a few and I think you'll be impressed. I own a couple of their knives and so far they are all good.

I'm already impressed by seeing this video. I didn't expect the Griptillian to make it through that with no blade play issues at all.

I was surprised too, since they say it is their weakest design and not made to be beat on. Breaking point is about a third compared to the Adamas. I also couldn't believe the edge on that 154 and the D2 blade he thinned to zero grind didn't chip, or roll. I've beat on mine a little, but they still pretty much have factory edges. I also did get quite as crazy as he did with the baton. :)

Never done that with a folder. But I would if I had to (carefully). Barely have done it with fixed blades. I geneally have a hatchet/axe/machete at campsites and I don't do much back packing anymore beyond dayhikes. I prefer to have a central camp and explore from that base point.

I may have to check out the Adamas. I have yet to buy a Benchmade knife.

Training says if you have to unlock the blade and us it in the 90 degree position. I've seen that done with SAK successfully. I watched someone baton a $1200 folder that was sent to test and eval...It didn't survive. I watched another guy try to beat on a Spydie Mil and busted the heck out of it.
