I bought an ESEE 4 about 5 months ago and just looked at it. Weird! I would be watch a basketball game with friends over and I would be holding this freaking knife. Just pulling it out of the sheath and putin it back in. It was like I was in a trans or something. One night we had taco's for dinner. So I decided it was time to use my new best friend (ESEE 4 desert tan) and cut if the lettuce. That was nice I thought. But I wasnt going to go beat on it.
I took the knife to work. I show'd the knife to some peeps at work and thought I would show it off a little. We are all avid golfers so we chopped some golf ball in half. Now my knife has marks on it.
A few months go by and I order the ESEE 6. Mind you I've never had more then a Spyderco Delica folder before the ESEE 4 so emagine my suprise when I got this monster ESEE 6 in my paw.
Same thing happens... messin around with it while watching a movie or basketball game or whatever. I just love my fun new toy.
So it's been winter for the last few months where I live any one of my chorse is to keep my house nice and toosty warm for my little wife. I use a little gerber hatchet for this.
Take the big wood, make it a little smaller, get some news paper and make a fire so my wife will be happy and warm.
Anyway, long story short I used the ESEE 6 yesterday while getting some wood ready for a fire. Task was faster with the ESEE 6 then the little gerber hatchet. Now my ESEE 6 is all banged up.
Purpose of the thread....
How many of you actually use your ESEE/RAT whatever as a tool? I, for the past 6 months have been admiring my new ESEE knives with no thought of beating on them like I do with my gerber hatchet. The hatchet was 25 bucks at Cabelas... no need to keep it shinny new.
So, those of you who use your ESEE's, I'd like to see them. What does an ESEE look like after 2 or 3 years of hard use?
If there is already a thread that show's a bunch of ESEE knives that have been used please send me there.
