Beatle Paul, Careful With That Knife

Actually, I learned the onion cutting trick by watching "The Galloping Gourmet" about 35 years ago. I've been dicing opion like that ever since, works great. . .

However, it is easier to simply cut the onion in half (lengthwise) so that it can rest on the cutting board and you don't need to hold the "bloody" thing in the palm of your hand. Make the additional cuts almost all the way lengthwise and then cut across the grain to get diced onions.

I wouldn't call it scary, why should Paul McCartney slicing his hand open scare any of us? It was interesting to watch though. The whole time I was wondering why he didn't use the cutting board, but some folks like to hold stuff they're cutting.

Years ago a friend of mine borrowed my knife set to cook Thanksgiving dinner (she and her husband were newlyweds and didn't have much in the kitchen). So the next thing I know is she's bitching because one of the knives sliced her thumb open when she was cutting carrots. You know how some folks hold the carrot and push it against a (normally dull) knife. It was a very sharp knife set, I always use a board.

HAHAHA, I was waiting for him to slice his finger off when he was cutting that onion "across the top." Man, he must not appreciate his fingers... use the dang cutting board.

He became famous with those fingers, so I imagine he appreciates them quite a bit.
Sometimes I don't think before I say things either, it's ok. ;)
