Beatle Stabbed! Film at 11.

George Harrison was stabbed by a "deranged fan". (He's O.K., apparently). Can we now expect the Clinton Administration to sue all the knife manufacturers on our behalf? Or "...For the children".

Heard that on NPR this morning- what a drag. Expect a major backlash. Those of you in the UK- it's gonna get worse.
Glad he's OK. Wife too- she got bopped on the noggin.

Does go to show, though, that even with 4 stab wounds in his chest, a 50+ year old, scrawny vegetarian has enough left in him to subdue an assailant.

I feel sorry for the Brits (Mr. Harrison and his wife especially, of course).

I saw something on TV about all of the sporting rifles and shotguns over there were being destroyed. The quote was something like, "That's just the price these sportsmen have to pay for a safe society."

I suppose all of the kitchen knives will be confiscated and melted down... That's just the price our restaraunts and homeowners will have to pay for a safe society...

I don't know about a backlash against knives... This Beatle lived; the one that got shot didn't.

There will be outright knife confiscation in England now for sure!

And I'm sure the anti-gun politicians will claim this as a victory for gun control. "Had it not been for our vision and our gun ban, he would have surely been shot"

I think it should be "Alledgedly deranged", but what the heck.

Ya know, I saw a local spokesperson (probably an English LEO) describing the knife as "rather small, but extremely sharp".

I dunno.... I just think that was a perfect example of someone that shoulda shut up rather than say something silly.

Humming "While my guitar gently beeeps along with my cardiac monitor", I remain,

Acording to reports I heard , George's wife
beat the attacker into submission with a lamp .

10- 4 SD! While slightly injured herself she was able to stop any further damage. Bravo!

Yeah, how did that attacker get into that highly secured mansion?

Wouldn't you hate to be one of the "armed guards" around his house. Out of a job, and the last entry on the resume is......

Too bad George's wife didn't have a gun.

How weak and low the once great peoples of the British Isles have sunk! They gave up ALL their firearms to their "governmink" and have to defend themselves with basically nothing! It is a miracle he wasnt killed. At one time in English history, this intruder would have quickly been shot down like the dog he is. A people who once ruled the seas dont even have control of their own homes! The lost sheep of the House of Isreal(B-ritish peoples) are really lost in their own- homeland! Let us hope their kinsmen in North America dont make the same mistake! How did a small group of elites get away with all these laws against firearms? Un believeable!

It's kind of weird that all of the responses here berate England and say that George's wife should have had a gun. Yes, the wife couldn't defend herself with a gun because of strict laws there on gun ownership. But people selectively ignore the fact that the attacker also could not use a gun.

Knives are deadly weapons, but they do not compare to guns. If all three of these people were armed with guns, it's likely that all three would be dead. As it is, all three were only slightly injured.

England's laws prevented the attacker from using a gun. By comparison, John Lennon was shot dead by his attacker. Guess where that happened? Yep, good old US of A.

Thank God we have guns here! But if you're a Beatle, the moral of the story is: Stay in England where your assassins have to use knives.

I am really surprised that the attacker did not have a gun. If guns are outlawed in the U.S. do you really think that they are all going to be turned in? How many do you think have changed owners so many times that there would be no way of tracking them down? Now for the ones that were stolen, or never registered in the first place. Do you really think all the criminals are going to hand them over? Thats very humorous! Maybe some of the good upstanding citizens in our country will, but that is just going to make them easy targets for these punks. It will happen too! I'd bet anything that all the criminals in the world are praying for this to happen. Hell they can't get them now (legally), do you really think they will not be able to get guns if they are outlawed? Wake up!

EXACTLY!! GeneL74

English Anti-gun laws didn't keep that thug from getting a gun. His lack of money to buy one on the black market or lack of connections in the black market are what kept him from getting a gun in all likihood. All those laws have succeeded in doing is the same thing Anti-gun laws have done here. That is, to take away the right of law abiding citizens to defend themselves and/or their loved ones from violent criminals intent on victimizing the innocent.
DOOM and a pox on all gun-grabbing beauracrats!

It won't be long before they outlaw lamps or impose a five day waiting period before you can buy one!

Even with all the security methods in place at the estate, this idiots was able to get in.We as citizens are supposed to sit back and pay security companies to monitor our alarms and expect quick response from the police when these systems are activated. I'm sorry but it just doesn't work that way Folks! As a police officer myself, I can tell you that we respond to each run as if it were"hot". But there are times that police response can be slow due to high run activity. Alarms systems just aren't enough to protect us from criminals who know how to defeat a new security method before it is even put to use! The responsible use of guns, knives and other weapons are the only answer to the public being able to defend itself.
