Beatty mystery axe

I picked up this little guy the other day, and the more I thought about it the less sure I was about it. From the side profile it looks like a nice, east coast fireman's axe. Then you turn it 90 degrees, and the pick part is flat, like an undercutter. But then I was looking in Axe Makers of NA and it sounded like the undercutter hadn't really be developed before the Beatty factory closed.:confused: Thought perhaps some of you with more extensive resources and experience could maybe shed some light on it for me... It's a little under 10" long too, which seems smaller than most of the undercutters I think I've looked at on the bay.
Thanks!

All right... Wasn't sure if the old fireman's axes were always tapered to a needle point or if that evolved from this flat thing. Cool, thanks man.
