My father Pala made these Karda's handle during his visit with us in year 2010. Today I found these five Kardas in the shed and I am keeping one for sentimental reason and offering four for your collection. Theses blades are super sharp . Great for kitchen.

I sent email for # 1, I'll switch to #4 please. I'll send a new email.

YES!:D You guys are gonna love these Pala Kardas. As I stated recently, the one I got from Yangdu back in 2010 is my go-to small kitchen knife. If I don't need a thin blade, the Pala Karda gets the nod.

Here's a picture of it after I hastily dismembered an orange.

Notice how despite its thickness it was able to shave the orange flesh right off the peel. This is the knife I use to make margaritas for my wife. I like to dress them up with a bit of lime skin twisted into an ornate spiral. You have to get all the meat off the peel for it to work:)

honestly i just want one of them number isnt important omg, send bawanna whatever he wants lol jens that astk is great , i love the horn handle and would have picked it up if i just didnt do a deal for one from a forum member !

I am going to begin a cult shrine to yangdu and pala in my house with this karda * worships HI

I'm sure we're giving Auntie a major headache here boys. I'm good with whatever myself too. I'd just like to have something by Pala, don't matter which really either.

If I don't get one, that's ok too, I'm a gosh darn glutton lately. I don't deserve one. I am awfully lucky you all let me hang around here even.

Believe it or not Aunti has it figured it out! 1 and 4 long gone, I got 2 because yall beat me so that leaves no.3.

Wondering why the ASTK doesn't show as sold.
Should I email again?

Did you get a confirmation email? If not, maybe another one is prudent. If so, Yangdu probably just didn't update the post. No big deal there.

On a side note, that ASTK is the perfect length/weight for that model. My 15.5" one is one of my most used. Splits 4" logs into kindling without a hitch. It's due for a clean up and a stropping...other than that it's been rocking and rolling for years.

How does that ASTK differ from a WWII? Seems that the ASTK has a bit more drop but the weights and lengths are about the same? Are there any other significant differences? That one is beautiful Jens! Hope ya got it!

It's more gracefull than the WWII which is weird because mine sports a 1/2"+ thick spine at the bolster.

It's much more of a dramatic wedge in spine to edge profile. It's very much an all-muscle khuk. You really need to hold one to know what I'm talking about. It's like watching an NFL middle linebacker excel on Dancing With the Stars or something:D

I agree with Steely's comments. Additionally:

1. Earlier HI ASTKs were much heavier, around 37 oz for 18" length. That's because the tang was full thickness all the way to the butt, whereas the newer ASTKs have tapered tangs like the CAKs.

2. The "U.B." engraved on the ASTKs are in Devangari script rather than English lettering, which is a plus IMHO.

3. The ASTK has an interesting history, apparently being based on a khukuri carried by General Amar Singh Thapa, one of the national heroes of Nepal, who led Nepalese forces against the British in the Anglo-Nepalese war of 1814-1816.

You're absolutely right, David. The thickness of my ASTK is nearly the same from bolster to butt. Also, the UB on mine is in english. Mine was from a first run, I believe.

I earnestly believe that the ASTK, Bashpati, and Manakamana are some of the most graceful all around khuks that HI has come up with in the last several years. All favorites of mine.

Very interesting David99 and Steely! Thanks for the info. I like the extra drop. RE:The wedge shaped spine to edge profile. Will this still allow a good chopping profile leaving enough meat behind the edge like an Ang Khola or it is more of a compromised profile like Chitlangi for example? Pardon my ignorance on this model but I would like to know where to place it compared to AK, M43, CAK and other medium to heavy duty choppers.

I'm gong to take my ASTK to the office with me tomorrow for a clean up and sharpenin. I'll post a few pics of the blade profile and any others should anyone be curious:) just lemme know.

Thanks guys, got it. :)

The ASTK from Lacchu which I already own has an amazing handle (for my hands) and the blade shape is great. Its just that it is a 32oz monster which I am only able to control as long as I keep hitting the gym.
So this new 27oz ASTK should allow for some margin and give me room for some workout slack during the holidays  And who knows, even if I am always in good shape I might have to use a Kuk when I am tired and then I will be grabbing this "little" guy here. Also good to save a few ounces on my hiking trips which I will be starting again in spring.

I like my 32oz deep orange slight brownish wood handle but this combination here of black horn shininess and white metal is simply stunning.
Cant wait to hold it in my hand and I doubt I have to very long. Two days tops, since Reno is just a few hours from here :p

Will take a picture of the little and the big brother (same father) once the little one arrives.
